Miss Hong Kong 2025: Spotlight on Angela Stanton

The first round of interviews for Miss Hong Kong 2025 kicked off last week. As with previous years’ pageants, the background of standout candidates started to surface. One of the standout contestants this year is Angela Stanton (施宇琪), 26, whose mixed-race features and beauty quickly overshadowed other contestants.
Angela is of Chinese and British descendant and has a strong online presence with over 146,000 followers. Despite being an influencer, Angela graduated from University of Cambridge and is currently a finance professional working at an investment bank in Hong Kong.
Sharing about her academic and career successes, Angela expressed, “I was lucky to be born into a warm middle-class family in 1999. I attended Diocesan Girls’ Junior School and later got into the prestigious Chinese International School after two tries. I didn’t come from money, so I pushed myself to succeed. At 13, I scored full marks on the SAT. At 14, I got perfect scores on four AP exams. I also competed in school debate competitions to improve my speaking skills.”
Angela went on to study economics at Cambridge, earning first class honors and completed a master’s degree in 2024. She continued, “At 18, I landed a summer internship with Goldman Sachs. In my third year, I became President of the Cambridge Chinese Society and met many public figures. My career has just begun, but I’ll carry the drive I had as a student into everything I do.”
In front of the media, Angela carried herself calmly and with confidence. Netizens were impressed with Angela’s brains, beauty, ambition, aura and self-assurance.

She looks a bit mature for a 26 years old, but her background is incredible. Surely she will placed top 3, no questions asked. Maybe another MC-esque position awaits her.
She’s attractive, but I wouldn’t call her beautiful. I can believe she scored a 1500 on the SAT—after all, anyone can register and take the exam. But I seriously doubt she earned all 5s on her AP exams at age 14, since those tests are tied to specific coursework that’s not typically available to students that young. I really hope she’s not exaggerating her achievements, because to anyone familiar with the U.S. high school system, that claim is an obvious red flag.
New York City schools have advanced programs where students take AP classes and exams in 9th grade (around age 14) and college-level classes as early as 10th grade. Also, I believe it’s a national program where high achieving students are invited to take the SAT earlier in 8th grade. So her claim to her accomplishments is not a stretch and nor a red flag.
But she was NOT in NYC. 8th graders do not take SAT, they take something like it like John Hopkins CTY program. My kids took those tests.
Hong Kong is obsessed with status and White/mixed people. Just because she’s mixed, it does not automatically make her beautiful
