Moses Chan, Myolie Wu on “Love Can Overcome Everything”
Although Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) insisted on parting in good terms with TVB and often praised the station for grooming her into a successful star, it is understood that TVB now views Myolie as a traitor and has taken steps to exclude her from promotional events for Every Step You Take <陪著你走>. Fortunately, Myolie and Moses Chan (陳豪) were scheduled in advance for a media interview, in which they spoke at length about their characters in the drama.
Working with Moses again five years later, Myolie remarked at the changes in Moses’ life in the last five years. Since Moses is now the father of two boys, Myolie noted that she would also like to have children. Myolie said, “Of course, I’m happy for [Moses]! As for me, I won’t be jumping through so many hoops so quickly. I need to take things one step at a time, as I’m quite traditional. Regardless of whether I’m currently dating, being a mother is very noble and has always been a dream of mine. If I find the right partner, I’ll naturally want to be a mother too.”
Rumored to be marrying entrepreneur Philip Lee at the end of the year in a fairytale-themed wedding, Myolie responded, “I’m not sure where that came from…I have never been a big fan of fairytales or anything to do with princesses. Although I haven’t thought about wedding plans, even if I did, I would never pick a fairytale theme. While many people will think about when to get married, when to have children and so on, I don’t believe in thinking so far ahead as these things are completely beyond our control.”
In Every Step You Take, Myolie plays a blind lady who discovers that her boyfriend was cheating on her. On whether her acting was shaped by personal experiences, Myolie said awkwardly, “There’s no need for that. I can use my own imagination. The script is very well-written and it’s sufficient to follow the script. I don’t necessarily need to borrow from personal experience.”
The Power of Love
The drama’s main tagline is “Love can overcome everything”. On whether Myolie would always forgive someone she loves no matter what he did, she expressed, “I don’t think I’ll be so blind. There’s a limit. To me, that limit is crossed when my other half stops trying to work on the relationship. It’s not necessarily about any specific mistakes he makes.”
As for Moses, he expressed that the phrase had already proven true in his life. He said, “I think love is very noble. Love is my motivation and also protects me. Seriously, there is such a drastic difference between a world with love and a world without love. I once said, the moment you fall in love with someone, no matter how ugly she is, you will still love her.”
Married with Aimee Chan (陈茵媺) for over two years, it takes effort to keep the romance alive. His tip was not to spend all of their time and energy on the children, but to reserve time for their relationship as a couple, as they still had a long journey to raise their children. He added that, for instance, choosing the right education for his children was already quite a headache. He said, “I want to strike a balance between pushing my children to succeed, and completely letting go. I want them to grow up healthy and happy, and not too stressed out.”
On when Moses was planning to have a third child with Aimee, he said, “Perhaps later…I still need to discuss with Aimee. We do intend to have a third child, but it’s already really difficult handling two children, especially since we believe in bringing them up by ourselves. We wish to have another baby, but it’s just a matter of when.”
Moses’ character in the drama felt lost about his job. Moses commented, “Growing up, I was quite a lost kid. Whenever anyone asked what I wanted to do in life, I always said, ‘I don’t know’. I never read a single newspaper until I was in my late teens. I was literally playing all the time. These days, I’m completely different and constantly working. Life actually feels very complete. I had my fun in my younger days, and now it’s time for work. I’m used to it now. Besides, family is now my motivation. No matter how hard I work, it doesn’t matter, as long as I see them happy and healthy.”

Wow I just watch one of her old series and notice she has gotten really pretty over the years. Skin is brighter. All that baby fat are gone and teeth are straighter. Looks like she took care of herself well.
