Nicky Wu’s Production Company Gets Listed On HK Stock Exchange

On January 15, celebrity couple Nicky Wu (吳奇隆) and Cecilia Liu Shishi‘s (劉詩詩) production company, Strawbear Entertainment Group, was officially listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, becoming one of the rare media and entertainment stocks on the market recently.

Established in 2003, Strawbear produces and distributes dramas and films, and also does talent management. Some of the more successful investments of the company include Legend of Zu Mountain <蜀山戰紀之劍俠傳奇>, The Bride with White Hair <新白髮魔女傳>, and Inside Man <局中人>.

Stellar Opening Performance

Performing strongly on its first trading day on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Strawbear’s stock price peaked at $11.36 Hong Kong dollars, nearly double from its opening price of HK$5.88.

Nicky, who holds 58.41 percent of the company’s shares, made a video announcement on Weibo regarding the IPO. The group’s second largest shareholder, Chinese online streaming platform iQiyi owns 19.57 percent of the shares, while actress Zhao Liying (趙麗穎) also has a 0.79 percent stake.

According to official documentation, Liu Shishi currently holds a 14.8 percent stake. With the company’s share price doubling on the first day, Shishi’s stock shares are now valued at HK$7.53 billion. The actress’ net worth may actually be closer to HK$8 billion, as Nicky reportedly gifted her with HK$200 million in stock shares for her wedding dowry.
