Raymond Lam is Afraid of Ghosts, the Dark, and Heights

Raymond Lam (林峯) may have recently starred in horror film, Baby Blue 3D <3D詭嬰>, but he revealed that he is actually a person who gets scared very easily.

Before filming, Raymond had doubts in accepting the project due to his fear of ghosts, the dark, and heights. Due to his phobias, he would not even step foot into a theater for a horror movie. And by chance, if he did watch a horror movie that day, Raymond admitted that he would sleep with the blanket over his head.

Therefore, it was highly surprising that Raymond would even accept the project. The public assumed that it was because of Raymond’s girlfriend Karena Ng’s (吳千語) involvement in Baby Blues 3D, but it turns out that the pair does not have much onscreen time together. After accepting the role, Raymond made sure that he was never alone on the set to avoid any odd encounters. During filming late at night, Raymond never strayed away from the production crew.

Raymond also praised his Baby Blues 3D costar, Jannelle Sing (盛君), who was a graduate from the Beijing Film Academy. Although Janelle is a newcomer, Raymond praised Janelle’s quick ability to learn. On the other hand, Janelle complimented Raymond for being a gentleman who shared valuable acting tips.

Balance Between Work and Personal Life

When the 33-year-old actor lost out on Best Actor during last year’s TVB Anniversary Awards, it was rumored that Raymond gave up hope on filming television dramas. Choosing to focus on movies and his music career, Raymond did not have any TVB dramas aired in 2013.

Raymond denied the motivation behind his decreased television drama involvement. He wanted to pursue more challenging roles beyond his comfort zone, and added, “Filming series take up a lot of my time and doesn’t allow me to do other things. It leaves me no time for my personal life. I know working hard is inevitable but I’ve worked hard for over 10 years. If you want me to work even harder now, when will I finally get a break from it? If I have to work to the fullest until I’m exhausted and old before I can finally rest, I probably won’t even have the energy to enjoy life!”

  1. what a trooper! i’m sure a lot of actors/actress lost out on an experience to face their fears even for a moment

  2. It’s okay 😛 It took me a long time to get over my phobia of dark. It’s truly important that an artiste enjoys work and have a private life (:

  3. He looks scarier than the ghosts he’s scared of in that pic

  4. When he first started acting, I didn’t think much of him, but maybe it is because I have seen him act in countless TVB series that he started to grow on me… it is also easy when he has his hands in so many cookie jars… (singing, acting… probably producing and I just don’t know it)

    He is great entertainer…

I use to feel like to tried “too” hard when he sings… its not a smooth flow like Jacky Cheung… but now… much better… (or maybe R.L’s music just grew on me)

  5. agree…Singer, actor ~~ awesome entertainer!
    Support you…LF!

  6. Holy cow, Raymond has the same phobias as I do! I’m 23 , and I’m still afraid of dark and “ghosts” (not much the height though). I wish I can grow out of it by the time I turn Raymond’s age :(.

  7. Raymond wasn’t that great in tv drama anyway. His facial expressions in tv dramas were stiff. He should stick with what he is good with. Not sure with filming movies, just stick with singing for now.
