Ruco Chan Pleads Guilty to Careless Driving

Driving girlfriend Phoebe Sin (單文柔) in March 2017, Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) was startled by a reporter following them. He accidentally hit a reporter’s car twice and damaged his vehicle. Fortunately, Ruco realized this and immediately went to talk to the reporter about the accident. The case was brought before the court earlier. Ruco pleaded guilty to careless driving was fined $3,000 HKD.

The accident occurred on March 15, 2017 at 11:20 p.m. when Ruco was driving Phoebe to The Peak. Although the couple had been dating secretly for approximately six months, their romance was brought to light the first time.

Ruco was absent at court yesterday on the grounds that he had to accompany his 68-year-old mother to the doctor. He was represented by his lawyer. Although Ruco pleaded guilty to careless driving, his lawyer argued that the nature of Ruco’s work attracts public attention; he only made a mistake because he was frightened from the reporter’s endless flash photography.

Based on local traffic ordinances, Ruco faced a maximum sentence of six-months jail time and fine of $5000 HKD. Fortunately, the judge only fined Ruco $3000 HKD. The eight fans who appeared at court yesterday to hear the outcome of the case breathed a sigh of relief for Ruco’s light sentence.
