[STYLE] Best and Worst Looks of the Week: March 14, 2013
Hong Kong celebrities are known to wear jaw-dropping fashions, which may sometimes leave you in admiration or near cardiac arrest. Best and Worst Looks of the Week is a new weekly feature at JayneStars, in which the latest fashions worn by our favorite celebrities are profiled.
As the weather warms in March, spring fashions in Easter colors of pale blue and yellow are cropping up. Celebrities are already showing their bare legs and stacking on fun platform heels.
BEST DRESSED: ANGELABABY
Known for her impeccable fashion sense, Angelababy (楊穎) exudes a unique sexy cuteness that has propelled her to an international sensation. What can be better than dating mainland Chinese hunk, Huang Xiaoming (黃曉明)? Probably having the world’s fashion labels begging to dress her.
At the Paris Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2013, Angelababy appeared in a stunning light blue pleated Christian Dior dress and signature chain link bag. Balancing a dress that otherwise may have otherwise have been too schoolgirlish, Angelababy accessorized with gold heels and matching rose earrings and rings.
Twins, Gillian Chung (鍾欣桐) and Charlene Choi (蔡卓妍), wore colorful dresses at a recent Emperor Motion Pictures celebration. Gillian’s blue and white ensemble would have benefited if she had tossed her opaque stockings and sun ray necklace. Charlene looks lovely in a peach snow-leopard dress and matching velvet pumps. The lemon jacket looks effortless and adds a nice pop of color.
If you pick apart Sammi Cheng’s (鄭秀文) outfit, each piece would suffer criticism. The multi-color knitted skirt is unusual and difficult to coordinate. The emerald jacket is loose and shapeless. Somehow the complete outfit looks great on Sammi and showcases her vibrant style.
Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) has the perfect body shape to wear skinny jeans, which she is a big fan of and stocks in different colors. At two mainland Chinese events this week, Myolie resorted to the same blouse and skinny jean look. Minimalistic look and effort, which would look better on an older woman. In the right hand image, Myolie is promoting a Piero Guidi handbag.
Good friends, Natalie Tong (唐詩詠) and Kenneth Ma (馬國明), wore matching yellows and smiles over their recent love rumors. Natalie looks feminine in a Patrizia Pepe dress from the Spring 2013 collection. The pale platform heels look thicker than her calves. The most impressive piece of the ensemble is hidden from view, as the magic undergarments Natalie wore left an eye-popping impression.
WORST DRESSED: JOEY YUNG
Joey Yung’s (容祖兒) personal style is best described as experimental. She can appear elegant at red carpet events or shock you with her alternative taste.
The dress Joey has on is frumpy, with its polka dot pattern and black choker necklace. A mix of the 1980s and 1990s? Is this look beyond saving?
