Tony Leung to Star in New Hollywood Film, “Silent Friend”

Due to his internationally movies, Tony Leung (梁朝偉) is a recognized actor in the East and West. Expanding his career outside of Asia in recent years, Tony starred in his first Hollywood film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as Xu Wenwu. The film’s box office success increased Tony’s exposure and popularity, paving way for additional Hollywood projects.

It was announced that Tony’s next Hollywood film is Silent Friend. The film is directed by Ildiko Enyedi, a female Hungarian director who won the Golden Bear award at the Berlin International Film Festival, which is the highest prize awarded for best film.

Set in Germany, Silent Friend revolves around a century-old tree and explores the reality and intricate relationship between humans, animals, and plants. Tony will portray a famous neuroscientist. Known for his dedication to his work and craft, Tony spent time and effort researching not only his character, but also the director’s past works. Expressing his appreciation and praise for Ildiko’s talent, intelligence, and humility, Tony is excited about the upcoming collaboration.

The admiration is two-way, as Director Ildiko also recognizes Tony’s talents as a skilled actor. Ildiko shared that she has admired Tony’s performances for many years, and thus tailored the role in Silent Friend for Tony.
