Top 10 Nominees for TVB Anniversary Awards Revealed

Although the nominees for the 45th TVB Anniversary Awards will not be announced until November 21, Ming Pao released an initial list of contenders that are allegedly confirmed.

It was also reported that the one vote per person policy will only apply to the Best Drama, Best Actor, and Best Actress award categories. The rest of the awards will be determined behind close door by TVB executives.

In the Best Actor category, needless to say, the hot favorites, Raymond Lam (林峰), Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎), Kenneth Ma (馬國明), and Wanye Lai (黎耀祥) made the nominations. Moses Chan (陳豪) also made the list handily but he is nominated for his performance on  The Last Steep Ascent <天梯> instead of When Heaven Burns <天與地>. Joe Ma (馬德鐘) is also nominated despite the termination of his contract with TVB, due to his popular series, Tiger Cubs <飛虎>.

In the Best Actress category, there were a few surprises. There was a previous rumor which said that Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) will not get a chance to compete because of the termination of her management contract. Notably missing is The Last Steep Ascent’s Maggie Cheung (張可頤), who left TVB for CTI this year. Also a surprise was Aimee Chan’s (陳茵媺) nomination for Best Actress, although she only played a supporting role in The Last Steep Ascent.

Another notable nominee on the list includes Tavia Yeung (楊怡), who is nominated in the same category twice. For the Favorite Female Character Award, She was nominated for her roles in Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles <名媛望族> and The Hippocratic Crush <On Call 36小時>.

The race in multiple award categories will be extremely close. It will be a dog-fight between Koo Ming Wah (古明華) and Power Chan (陳國邦) for the Best Supporting Actor award, while Oscar Leung (梁烈唯) and Edwin Siu (蕭正楠) will duel it out for the Most Improved Actor award.

Mandy Wong (黃智雯), who until recently was the heavy favorite to win the Most Improved Actress award, now suddenly faces tough competition from Eliza Sam (岑麗香) and Christine Kuo (苟芸慧). Of the two rising actresses, Eliza is having a strong showing. She was also nominated for two more categories in the Favorite Female Character award and the Best Supporting Actress award.

  1. Watch out. Aimee and Netizen’s Goddesses Eliza and Christine will be the next BIG THINGS!

    1. I also never knew one artiste can get two slots in the top 10. Tavia must be the first case.

      1. In the previous years, Charmaine was nominated for both her character and i think both made it in top 5 .. (dont remember) ? But she didn’t win anything.

      2. I think it happened before (way back when) but recently it’s been unofficially limited to one character. I guess TVB really wants Tavia to win

      3. But actually nominating Tavia for two different roles is a bad strategy because it will split her votes. If TVB wants her to win, they should eliminate one of them before top 5

      4. Charmaine was nominated for two roles and both made it to top 5 in 2009, and that year’s winner happened to be Tavia. ROFL if history repeats and Tavia goes home empty handed.

      5. the biggest joke is two seats for TY and nune to Linda in fav char? WI made to the top rated tvb series this year, people actually liked Linda’s character and still she didn’t get a seat -.-

      6. didn’t WI make it to the top because of the hurricane? everyone had to stay at home so more people tuned in, hence such a high rating that no one else has been able to beat..

      7. But it was some places that didn’t get any signal because of the hurrican, so don’t it kinda add up in up?

  2. It’s nice to see that Eliza Sam and Christine Kuo has been nominated, but I feel that they are still pretty new. I think it’s still too early to award them. It’s a blessing to see Eliza Sam doing so well in HK. And how come Ruco Chan is not nominated in any categories?

Rooting for Mandy Wong & Oscar Leung/Edwin Siu 🙂

    1. I like Eliza but I don’t wish for her to rise too fast or win against Mandy this year. She’s already nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Favourite Character too beating many seniors.

      1. Eliza Sam will surely get nominated for Best Actress award in 2013, or she will even get Best Actress Award in 2013. Who knows? It was only her 2nd role in drama series in “Divas in Distress”, and she got nominated twice already. I think TVB is desperate in promoting newbies, and doesn’t care about their good veterans.

      2. DID was only her first major role. Her one and only other role in GJ2 was unnoticable. To be nominated for Most Improved is already a stretch (as she isn’t actually improving from anything), but to be nominated for BSA and Fav Character is just a joke.

      3. Eliza and Christine’s title as HK netizen’s top Goddess surely help them getting the promotions.

      4. I quite like Eliza but her nominations are ridiculous, and TVB are risking the goodwill people have for her.

      5. Totally premature to be nominating Eliza for Best Supporting Actress.

      6. TVB is promoting Eliza and the others because its very rarely that they receive such press attention from just being around. These girls are special and have entertainment presence. TVB will continue promoting them cause it benefits their revenue. While some of you are more loud and vocal, does not mean HK audience doesnt like them, in fact they love them over there, that is why they keep getting booked for events. Many crowds come to see them. And reporters swarm over just to grab pictures. Its only ppl here that seem to have so controlling issues about who TVB promotes, its not like they are promoting certain ppl less, in fact I see many ppls favorites star in half a dozen dramas each yr, yet they make a fuss when some newer actresses show up. Geez.

    2. The warehousing of Ruco’s AFT tells that he will be a victim this year. TXB is clearing the pathway to let LF to be tv king, anyone rivaling him will be sacrificed. Besides, txb has to give priority to its own bred children.

      1. Ruco was never going to win before LF anyway. He’ll be lucky if he wins before Kenneth.

      2. Ruco has to line up after LF, MM, Bosco. Not talking about acting, but tbb’s tradition.

      3. i think ruco will be lucky if he wins it at all.. i gotta a feeling that after ma ming gets it ron may get it

      4. Where confirmed that ATF is warehoused?

Lolz, and Ruco won’t make a hardway to LF. Ruco has a series aired this year :P.

      5. And if Txb wanna put clear way to LF to win, they won’t change the date of the award night and let it on 5 Dec or better, 20 Nov because at this moment, the hype of HAL is still highest. But no, they pull the date to 17 Dec for The Confidants and their most beloved SSSS to finish.

    3. I know!! I wish TVB treated their seniors with more respect. After all, it is THEM who made TVB famous. gahhhh =.=

  3. I think the official list will be slightly different. I mean, how can Ben Wong and MC Jin not be nominated in Supporting as well as Michael not nominated in Best Actor?! Aimee in Best Actress is a joke (just like how she was placed in JAN month of the TVB calendar) and Linda Chung not nominated in Favourite Character.

But whatever, i’m alright just as long as LF is nominated in Best Actor and Most Favourite because i want him to grab both.. Bahaha 😀

    1. I agree, I find it very strange that Ben Wong is not nominated for supporting actor. And I thought Michael Miu should have been nominated for best actor & not just favourite actor. Those 2 carried HAL.

    2. It makes sense for MC Jin as I read that he’s moving back to America? So he won’t be with tvb anymore, a shame if you ask me.

    3. Best actor:raymond lam
      Best male character: raymond lam
      Best actress:Kate tsui
      Best female character :tavia yeung

      1. I like this result. But better if Michelle win Best actress, Kate wins Most fave chac.

  4. Aimee shouldn’t have been nominated for best actress. She wasn’t even in the drama for that much.

  5. Why Aimee is in the best actress category ? she is rising tremendously fast…fake lol…

    1. Agree. Aimee Chan was only a support actress in “The Last Steep Ascent”. Not fair to other actresses!

Maggie Shiu (The Confidant, and When Heaven Burns) was not included in the top 10 nominees for Best Support Actress award. She did very well in both support roles.

    2. Aimee Chan’s role in “The Confidant” was not heavy at all vs. Maggie Shiu’s role as Empress Chi On. She was nominated for Best Support Actress while Maggie Shiu was not. Fair or not?!

    3. Whoever who voted for Aimee Chan are dumbasses who dun know how to judge a talent from garbage.

Boo to Aimee’s nomination for best actress n best supporting actress. Better deserving actresses should get nod and not her.

If she win any one of it then it is obvious Txb is bias and judging is rigged!!

      1. I KNOW. She’s been in the industry for years…there’s a reason why she’s still not popular.

      2. Who says she’s not popular? YOU? HK sponsors will disagree with you, they book her because they know she is well liked over there and has a healthy image. She has the all around girl next door vibe that sits well with the audience. She is ALOT more popular than some of the others. If you mention Chan Yan Mei, most housewives recognize her name over ppl that starred in more dramas than her. Aimee has not appeared alot before, at most 2 dramas a yr.

      3. “she still can’t act” is your opinion. Don’t shove it in people’s faces like it’s a fact.

  6. I think Linda will take one of Tavia’s slot when the finalized list come out.

  7. I think TVB wants to make sure that Tavia Yeung will get an award this year as she was nominated 3 times (once in Best Actress, and twice in Most Favourite Female Actress), which is not fair to other artistes.

    1. I have a hard time seeing Tavia be nominated for two characters in the top 5. But if that did happen, I don’t think TVB wants her to get that award because her votes will be split.

  8. AIMEE CHAN FOR BEST ACTRESS ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? No way.

If Joe Ma can be nominated for Best Actor because of Tiger Cubs then why not Jessica Hsuan too?

Also, not fair that Tavia gets two nomination spots for Favourite Female Character. She could easily win with her THC role anyway, her SSSS role sucks. Natalie Tong deserves to be nominated.

Christine Kuo needs to improve LOADS first. Mandy Wong may not be prettier than her but she CAN act, and definitely better than Christine. No one deserves Most Improved but Mandy.

And Him Law will win. Something.

    1. i agree. don’t understand how aimee even got onto the “best actress” list. i find it ridiculous.

      1. I already don’t understand how Aimee is in the JAN calendar group and now this.

      2. I agree too. It’s shocking to see Aimee in jan calendar and now best and supporting actress? She definitely doesn’t deserve it now. And Eliza is also nominated two times is simply unbelievable…I feel for seniors actresses like Maggie shui, Natalie tong, and so many others.

      3. absolutely agree with you. i mean come on, january is the spot where the hot contenders for best actors/ and actresses are involved. aimee is not at that level yet. as for mandy,if she doesn’t get it, the’s something wrong with TVB

    2. Well TVB’s awards are getting more and more meaningless so I am not so shocked at all…

  9. I’m so shocked to see Aimee on the Best Actress nomination list! I think that someone else should deserve that slot!
I’m also surprised that Linda didnt got a nomination for Favorite character!

    1. lol I think TVB promoting tactic are making people annoyed of Aimee hah

  10. This is not the actual list right? It seems like people are just being thrown in there just to fill up the list LOL! Woa Raymond Wong was not nominated for Bottle Passion but for Gloves comes off? I Like Niki Chow, but her performance in Bottle Passion was just okay, not Best actress stuff, then again I can say the same for many people on the list! Woa I hope Nancy and Power wins for best supporting!! It’s hard between Edwin and Oscar for most improve they both are good. As for Roger and Fala, really those where crappy characters with not so special acting!

    1. Agree. TVB wants to treat her 1st line artistes well, and there are not that many good ones anyway.

Agree. Jessica Husan should get nominated in “Tiger Cubs” for Best Actress Award.

Bowie Lam and Moses Chan should get nominated for Best Actor Award in “When Heaven Burns”. Both of them acted really well though the viewership rating was very low.

      1. Bowie should be nominated for Best Actor for WHB. Though his chance to win is next to zero, but should acknowledge that he did a great job (to me he beats the 10 nominated actors).

      2. Correct. It is the recognition more than the winning to Bowie Lam. He got TV King some years ago in TVB and Best Actor Award in Malaysia in the last year or so.

        TVB just ignored him.

Personally I think Moses Chan did better in “When Heaven Burns” than in “The Last Steep Ascent”. Why did he not get nominated in “WHB”? He would have a better chance to win.

      3. ^ Moses has no chance to win regardless of the role he is nominated for. This is obviously Raymond’s year as TVB has gone out of their way to make him TV King with this voting gimmick.

      4. I don’t care if Moses Chan will win or not. I just felt that an artiste should be nominated in his BEST drama series, not his second or third best. Personally I think Moses did best in “When Heaven Burns”, and not in “The Last Steep Ascent”.

      5. Moses Chan is mediocre in all his series, but Bowie is the good one.

Where is Ben Wong’s name by the way? This guy is great in HAL!

      6. Ben Wong (HAL) and Pierre Ngo (3 Kingdoms RPG and King Maker) should replace Him Law and Lam Chi Sin for Best Support Actor.

  11. Looking at the results Tavia Yeung won’t be empty handed going back home…

    1. Tavia Yeung is getting too old to go home empty handed …… so she needs to get something this year.

    2. TVB has to give an award to Tavia as a way to keep her on good terms with TVB so she wont leave them.

      1. Well, if that is TVB’s mentality – to give the award to anyone who they want to keep – wouldn’t it make more sense to give it to Myolie or Kate? Myolie is popular in the mainland. She can easily just give up her TVB career and switch focus to China. Kate is popular with many film producers, so she too can easily leave TVB and work on a film career.

But Tavia? So far, I’ve only seen her do one mainland drama. Other than that, I only see her doing TVB dramas. Same thing with Linda Chung. (But IDK, Linda did do some films in the past, but it seems that Kate has more affinity with the film industry than Linda).

  12. I think JJ Jia should replace Christine Kuo’s spot in Most Improved…

    1. Christine Kuo got nominated twice, both in “Best Support Actress” and “Most Improved Female Artiste”.

  13. TVB is so desperate this year, so they lost their sense in making those nomination lists!!!

  14. It would make more sense if they used the voting system for fav character… and not best actor/actress. The actor/actress with the biggest fan club would obviously win in this case -_-

Also, I don’t understand why Aimee’s nominated even though her role was only a supporting one.

  15. My Favorites :
    Best Actor : Kenneth Ma
    Best Actress : Tavia Yeung
My fav male : Kenneth Ma or Raymond Lam
My fav female : Tavia Yeung or Niki Ch
    Best Supporting Actor :
    Best Supporting Actress:

  16. Not every artiste wants or will win. If he/she gets nominated on the list, his/her performance has got recognition from TVB.

  17. Maggie Cheung should get nominated for best actress not Aimee Chan.

    1. Maggie Cheung is now filming for CTI, TVB’s major competitor. She will never get nominated now and in the near future.

  18. Some artistes (especially those support ones) have worked for TVB for over 20 years, and they would like to have recognitions for their good performance. Eliza Sam only acted 2 roles (only one decent one in “Divas in Distress”) and Christine Kuo’s acting didn’t even get a pass, and they got nominated for Best Support Actress Award. What a big joke to those good support artistes who have worked so hard throughout the years!

  19. Best Supporting Actress Nominees.. right actress, butwrong series!! Florence should be for “No Good either way”! Elaine Yiu is my fav supporting actress in BP. She and Rebecca Chan was excellent!

and King Kong in most improved?! should be Benjamin or Sammy.

  20. why isnt my fave male character raymond wong – bottled passion?

    1. I am wondering that too. He will stand a better chance if it’s for BP. His role in The Confidant is a support role so not as memorable as BP.

  21. Mary Hon was better in SSSS than 3K.
Aimee & Christine Guo were overrated:(

Kent was good in King maker, Ben was good… the only good thing in this list was, it has Raymond Wong and Niki mentioned.

    1. Correct. Many Hon in SSSS and not in “3 Kingdoms RPG”, and Florence Kwok in “No Good Either Way”, not in “King Maker”.

  22. Got to be kidding mann!
It’s not a “nightmare on elm street” but “nightmare on TVB City” n who is their ” Freddy Krueger ” striking off deserving artistes grrrrr!

TVB earlier declared a leak for it’s 2013 calendar n also a fake one but then d original copy came out with no difference so I supposed dis list should be an original one.

Whatever but I’m looking forward to d fashion parade for d award night, popcorn or jerky anyone? (at least jerky could stabilize your nerves on dat night)

  23. if this list is true, the awards will be the biggest joke ever and people will finally stop complaining about last years results.

  24. Pointless to pay attention to the best avtor award category. It surely will go to LF, eventhough i think Wayne or Damien deserves it more this year. Im just waiting to see if kate or tavia is gonna win for best actress. Mandy wong has to win, she’s the one with the most potential among all the new rising actresses.

  25. LOL! Pretty much I had the same reaction as most of you regarding the ‘supposed’ final nominations lists.

In a nutshell, I basically have doubts about this being the ‘official’ list because there are too many ‘oddball’ nominations (and snubs) in the list to be even decently believable. But then again, this IS TVB we’re talking about so in a sense, we shouldn’t be too surprised at the obvious ‘promotion’ tactics and favoritism (though of course it doesn’t make things any less frustrating)…

Anyway, here’s my ‘two cents’ about what I thought about the lists (and the obvious ‘snubs’ from my perspective) in case anyone is interested in reading it: http://llsmusings.blogspot.com/2012/11/tvb-anniversary-awards-top-10-nominees.html

    1. Pretty good analysis! Yeah I agree with you 100% with regards to Elaine and Rebecca.

    2. It does have a bit too many controversies for me to believe it will be the official one.

  26. No Ruco 🙁

Im glad Raymond Wong is nominated in this list, but his role in GCO is hardly memorable can’t even remember his name. Why isn’t he nominated for role in BP as Tong Bun Sin?

Also missing Power Chan in the fav. category.

Most improved actress category just makes me go BWAHAHAHAHA…

    1. Poor Ruco! He hasn’t got the least recognition from tbb this year.

  27. I literally LOL’d when I read this. It’s absolutely ridiculous and none of the nominees are nominated in the right category.

  28. Glad the older actresses/veterans are nominated. But Aimee being nominated for Best Actress is a joke. Even if this isn’t the official list, it’s a terrible joke. While I’m starting to like Aimee again, her being nominated over some one like Maggie is terrible. If her role in TLSA is considered lead, then Kenny should be nominated for Best Actor as well. But that isn’t the problem here. The problem is that Aimee is award worthy, yet. Her improvement is showing but all this hype that TVB is giving her is making me dislike her at the same time.

I reckon Nancy should have been nominated for her role in TC but as long as she’s nominated, I’m okay with it. Hope she wins!

So many undeserving people on here. Eliza getting 3 nominations?! Who comes up with these lists? Selena should have replaced her for BSA. Selena was great in TC. Why is Christine on BSA? She was SLAMMED for her acting and Cantonese (although I can’t really comment on the way she speaks Cantonese) in GJ2.

Oh, and I see why Aimee was nominated for Best Actress. TVB/list maker wanted her to be in both BA and BSA. Lol.

Glad Kristal is getting put on my favourite character. Loved her in KM. Also nice to see Charmaine on the nomination list.

Not much going on the male side. Don’t know why Moses wasn’t nominated for his role in WHB but for his role in TLSA. Liked him in WHB.

Rooting for Oscar and Mandy to win Most Improved. (:

  29. Really disappointed in this years nominees. Those that should of been nominated are not there and those that are nominated doesn’t deserve it. Eliza really? It was her first drama and she wasn’t even that great. Amiee really? Best actress, she can’t act

  30. LOL, so much complaints even before the official list come out.
I can make a list too!

  31. Tbb’s nomination list(if it’s true) is really nonsense! Too much favouritism, and traces of confusion are found. The voting will end up in a joke if not well adjusted. Hope Citicorp will get the licence soon, to give more justified value to artistes. Is tbb dying?

  32. Lol whut. Aimee for Best Actress? Her acting is not on par with other veteran actresses, no way she can even be nominated. I doubt Charmaine will be in the final list, she left TVB. She probably has almost zero chance winning it even with the most votes from netizens.

      1. What’s the point of this award show if they’re going to temper with the results? Shame. There’s no significance in winning, it simply tells people who’s heavily promoted.

  33. Moses got nomination every year not because of his acting skill, but his big brother position in txb only. He’s not outstanding in acting and look, only lucky enough to secure a position before strong competitors appear. Same to Aimee, she has a big brother b/f.

  34. Echoing many’s views, Aimee Chan in best actress and supporting is a real joke!!! She can’t act. Maggie Shiu should be nominated in supporting! Raymond Wong should be nominated for BP not GCO. Tavia Yeung being nominated twice in my fav character will only split the votes.

I hope this list is not finalised. But judging by the calendar leaked which is exactly the same as the final, there is a high probability that this is the final!!!

    1. Not a big fan of Maggie Shiu, but she is impressive in The Confidant. I think she is better than Michelle.

  35. I think we need to get all the comments and rewrite the list and send it to tvb.

    Best actor
    1. Moses chan in WHB instead of LSA
    2. Raymond Wong in BP instead of GCO
    3. Take out Roger Kwok and replace with either Michael miu or kent cheng or ruco chan or Bowie Lam

    Best actress
    1. Take out Aimee chan and replace with jessica hsuan or Maggie cheung

    My favorite actor
    1. Raymond Wong in BP

    My favorite actress
    1. Take out Tavia yeung in SSSS and replace with Linda Chung in WI

    Best supporting actor
    1. Ben Wong and MC Jin and Pierre Ngo should be nominated

    Best supporting actress
    1. Mary Hon in SSSS instead of 3 kingdoms RPG
    2. Florence Kwok in No good either way instead of KM
    3. Take out Aimee and replace with Maggie shiu in The Confidant
4&5. Take out Christine Kuo and Eliza Sam and replace with Elaine Yiu or rebecca chan in BP or Natalie Tong in GCO or Selena in TC

Feel free to amend the list. This is based on the comments I read so far..

    1. ” Take out Christine Kuo and Eliza Sam and replace with Elaine Yiu or rebecca chan in BP or Natalie Tong in GCO or Selena in TC”

      Rebecca in BP – No
Natalie Tong in GCO – No
      Selena in TC- No

Eliza Sum deserves a nomination. She practically lit up the series with her personality.

And shouldn’t she be in perhaps most improved or perhaps a new category as in Tomorrow’s star or something?

Raymond Wong in anything. Don’t care, he is good in all recent productions.

Aimee for Last Steep Ascent shouldn’t be best actress. She was at best supporting. Should have been Maggie Cheung if anyone must be nominated from that series.

Florence Kwok shouldn’t be for King Maker. She was as you all said better in No Good Either Way. Ruco deserves a nomination as well.

Kent Cheng Should have gotten some best veteran whatever.

Roger’s name should be removed. Didn’t like that series at all.

Anyway my opinion over the list which by the way is popularity based, not merit. The award was never about merit, it just so happened some years those who deserves it won.

      1. SORRY!! Mistaken Rebecca Chan as someone else!! YES YES!! Rebecca Chan in BP should be in supporting list AND should win. Why isn;’t she in it is because BP was broadcast too long ago. Maybe there is a Best Veteran Actor award??

      2. No offence, for me Rebecca Chan should have been Cixi. Michelle looks good but acting is so far standard fare.

      3. Should have been Maggie Cheung if anyone must be nominated from that series.

No one should be nominated from TLSA, unless you are Joel Chan or Samantha Ko.

I also agree that Eliza Sam deserves a nomination for BSA, though I rather see her nominated for Most Improved because BSA automatically implies good acting, and Eliza is far from great. But like what you said, most improved from what? She is a very contradicting candidate.

And Rebecca Chan would be superb as Cixi! But the Cixi in “The Confidant” should be slightly younger, correct? Wouldn’t Rebecca look too old for the role? Not that Michelle Yim is any younger, but she definitely looks more youthful than Rebecca.

And Raymond Wong should get nominated for “Bottled Passion.” If not BA, at least in the Fav Char category, because from what I can remember, everyone liked him in BP.

      4. Rebecca Chan looks young if with such thick make up that Michelle has on. Michelle is older than Rebecca by 3 years from what I can see online. But Michelle looks very youthful. But acting wise I just feel Rebecca can do that is she evil or is she nice sort of characters. Though like I said looks wise Michelle it right on but performance wise, sorry but I do feel Michelle is a weaker actress.

      5. Actually, I think Eliza Sam should be nominated for My Favorite Female Character instead of BSA and Most Improved.

      6. Yes, I also think Rebecca to be a better actress than Michelle.

Rebecca also did really well as Wu Zetian in The Greatness of a Hero. Now, I can’t see anyone else for the role except her.

      7. Rebecca Chan definitely was a good actress. She did very well in “Bottled Passion”, and should get nominated for “Best Support Actress” award.

Well, perhaps TVB thinks Christine Kuo and Eliza Sam act better than the veteran Rebecca Chan Sau Chu?!

      8. No it is because they want to promote these 2. Obviously like I said since day 1 it is popularity plus who they wanna promote award, no merit. But sometimes they got it right with credible winners, that is because it was so obvious.

      9. I think RayW is considered co-lead with Kevin in GCO. You find Kevin’s performance in GCO worse than Kenneth’s in THC, Raymond Lam’s in HAL, and Bosco’s in WI? I thought it was a credible performance that showed some emotional depth. Would you be more agreeable if he were to be nominated for GJ2 instead?

Michael Tse has no series where he played a leading role this year.

And I thought Joe Ma gave a poor performance and would have given him a NO! myself. Adam Cheng, Bobby, Ruco Chan, Kent Cheng (and maybe Chin Ka Lok?) could replace the NO!s on the list.

  36. I don’t understand why TVB is trying so hard to get Aimee and Christine up the ladder….they both suck.
I saw the sales presentation and I swear half of the shows have aimee in it as main character….NO, DON’T. I WILL NOT WATCH ANY OF THOSE…..even if LF is in it or something..
TVB Is really ruining it for me.
McJin is going back to the states so thats prob why TVB didn’t place him in anything; although I think he really deseves a spot in best supporting actor.

The whole awards show is messed up. There’s no point in voting because ultimately, TVB makes the decision.

    1. you’re right. the more tvb tries to push aimee chan to be lead, it just makes more people hate her because she’s not up at that level yet

    2. Why is MC Jin going back to USA? He turned his career around after coming to HK and now he is going back?!!?

  37. What a stupid list. Very rigged and using audience vote to be ” fair”? Aimee is the worst actress in tvb history, there are others but fir now aimee is at the top worst. Christine is pretty, I saw potential in her but admit that her acting sux.

    1. Eliza is overrated too, I see potential but it throws me off that she’s over promoted based on 1 or 2 series? Tvb quality really is low, can’t wait to see how cti can compete, it should be easier now that we have low quality dramas

  38. I’ll wait for the official list. There seems to be several problems with this alleged list.

  39. Eliza will probably win Most Improved and maybe Mandy will win Supporting, its not like any one person can win it all. Who said they have to please only certain ppl’s fans? I remember when Kate Tsui won and everyone booed, look at her now, its not that hard to promote someone to likeability so why dont you all just chill the heck out? Its not up to you ppl on who to promote, you aren’t in charge of the station nor can you overseer their revenue. The company would go bankrupt if they promoted ONLY ppl that certain loud fans crazily and rabidly swarm around this place, they have to answer to the HK advertisers and sponsors who actually fund the drama, otherwise you cant even watch your little favorites if it weren’t for these other actresses making money for the station.

GO Eliza and Christine! I support these girls, they do work hard behind the scenes as well. If TVB has to choose between keeping around those that make money vs those that don’t if their fans are making it hard to promote others, they will just surely be disappointed when their actress gets frozen because they are making it hard on actresses that TVB and advertisers like.

    1. From a business standpoint, I can understand why TVB does what it does (although it’ll probably harm them in the long run). But we don’t care. We’re just viewers who tune in for entertainment and we have standards for fine acting. A quality both Eliza and Christine do not possess (yet). Maybe they will improve. Who knows. You don’t need to be hater or “rival fan” to criticise; we just have expectations (that have yet to be fulfilled). I don’t mind watching interviews of Christine – she seems like a nice girl – but I still cringe whenever I watch her act.

As for TVB only caring about money making and not us “little people”. TVB should know that they’re lucky to have us loyal viewers who still tune into them, who grew up watching them and still do to this very day despite the downward spiral. As of now, TVB dramas don’t have the appeal of Japanese/Korean/Taiwanese dramas so they’re not going to reel in new viewers or ones who don’t have Chinese origins. (Of course there are exceptions, but it’s certainly not the norm.)

Hmm, Aimee. Why are people worked up?
      1) Her acting sucks. Still.
      2) Whoever made the list clearly can’t distinguish between leading and supporting.
      3) As some have mentioned above, there are other candidates who can fill that quota.

Even being considered in the top ten is like some kind of acknowledgement – something Aimee has yet to earn judging from her performances this year. To be honest, I don’t see much of a difference between being top 5 or top 10. We may as well cut to the chase and only talk about the winner then…

    2. If people don’t watch TVB, they won’t have a revenue to begin with. Do you realize it’s about the viewers (customers)…

If everyone stopped watching TVB shows, they would go bankrupt. Companies would not pay TVB to air their commercials or to sponsor shows.

  40. As for Aimee being nominated in Best Actress, well TVB is just filling up the list. Only the top 5 matter anyway so why is everyone getting worked up for, is it even worth being concerned about, she’s not gonna be in Top 5, why are ppl actng so crazy harsh over her nomination. Rival fans I suppose.

    1. It’s just an insult to all viewers for just putting her on the list in the first place!!…you never know what the hell TVB is thinking of…they stuck her on the front of their calendar! She deserves to be stuck on the bottom of all our shoes!

  41. Is this a joke? Aimee being nominated in Best Actress?? WTF…..

She cant even act and speak Cantonese well.. Really? Where is Maggie, Jessica or Krital Tim?

  42. Wee! Can’t wait for after awards when the winners are revealed and there’s even more controversy! So fun!

    1. I’m most excited for the showdown of Most Improved Actor and Best Supporting Actor.

      Edwin vs Oscar
      Power vs Koo Ming Wah

I’m supporting Edwin and Power. Don’t mind if Oscar or Koo Ming Wah gets it either. However, if anyone else gets it, I’ll be upset…

      1. Ah, even if Koo Ming Wah doesn’t get it, I hope TVB gives him more chances in the future! Either ways, him or Power will be fully deserving of the award.

  43. why is Linda Chung not in the favorite female character list and Tavia is nominated twice. That is so unfair!
