TVB Screens Upcoming Series at FILMART 2014

Over forty TVB artistes gathered at FILMART 2014 on March 24 to generate noise for their upcoming dramas. TVB screened promotional trailers for ten major productions, with more scheduled to come throughout the four-day event.

The media was treated to trailers of many anticipated series. Aside from current hit series Storm in a Cocoon <守業者> and Ruse of Engagement <叛逃>, TVB also previewed The Ultimate Addiction <點金勝手>, Inbound Troubles 2 <老表,你好Hea!>, Ghost Dragon of Cold Mountain <寒山潛龍>, Madam Cutie on Duty <師奶Madam>, Swipe Tap Love <愛我請留言>, Double Fantasies <無雙譜>, Rear Mirror <載得有情人>, and Line Walker <使徒行者>.

TV King Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) continues to dominate the small screen this year. Along with Rear Mirror and Double Fantasies, Wayne is scheduled to appear in five series in 2014. Earlier, he had completed filming for director Wong Jing‘s (王晶) family drama Across Heaven and Earth <風雲天地>. Although there is yet no hint which other two Wayne series will be aired this year, a likely candidate is No Reserve <巾幗梟雄之諜血長天>, the third installment of Lee Tim Shing‘s (李添勝) popular epic. In addition, Wayne has recently began work on Trade Wars <商戰>, and was eyed for roles in Opera Rouge <水髮胭脂> and The Five Eunuchs <太監五虎>. As if he is not busy enough, Wayne will also begin principal photography for Ruthless Hero <梟雄> in June with Film King, Anthony Wong (黃秋生).

Stars of Line Walker, formerly known as The Apostle, were also at the event to answer questions. Sammy Sum (沈震軒), who recently fractured his wrist during an action scene, has returned to work though his injuries will take two months to completely heal. Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼), who was recovering from a deviated spinal disc prior to filming, is not worried about being hurt on the set, and happily chatted about vacation plans after shooting wraps. With his future at TVB still unclear, Raymond Lam (林峯) revealed that Line Walker will be his only series this year, as he will spend the rest of the time focusing on his career in Mainland China.

    1. Funn,
FILMART is a 4-day event, so more series will be showcased this week at the expo.

      1. Sounds like a fun and exciting event. Hope to see more coverage of it!

  1. love you LF…yea…just keep to have one drama in TVB is enough…film more in China and movie…that give you more $…love you and support you

    1. You support this guy too much, he doesn’t love you back.

      1. You expect your idol to love you back? Wow, it’s a new level of childish.

    2. that is okay.,..i am his fans…not his girl friend…he does not need to love me back…just work hard and take care himself…those are the rewards for his fans.

    1. HKTV is no competition!!! Tvb have like over 40 famous artists that attend the expo. HKTV might only have 4??? The same old same old Frankie, Mandy, and who else??? Can’t remember their names lol.

    2. HKTV was definitely at Filmart — and the newest announcement came out about the direction of their company while they were there. Looks like international buyers are willing to pay top dollars for their series and they are finalizing the deal soon — so this means that overseas audiences around the world will get to see HKTV’s series, but not HK audiences (hey, perfectly fine with me, since I’m overseas…LOL).

Oh and at least HKTV had a booth at Filmart…ATV on the other hand had no booth and barely had any presence there….

      1. I think that it was not a surprise that ATV does not have a booth because they have not made/produced a series of their own for a long long time. I wonder if they ever will again? I really miss watching their series because they honestly made many many great series back then. I am getting nostalgic again…

Thanks for the update on HKTV llwy12! Maybe there is still hope for HKTV. Lets hope that it is the beginning of something good.

      2. @HTS: According to the below article, looks like ATV will resume shooting series later this year:

        http://asianfanatics.net/forum/topic/795863-hktv-may-get-worldwide-audience-except-hong-kong/

[Senior vice-president Ip Ka-po said ATV would undergo a major revamp in May with new programmes and would “welcome independent productions to occupy ATV’s air time”.

He said ATV would produce a 100-episode sitcom and TV movies. Shooting of a drama series would commence in September.]

      3. “welcome independent productions to occupy ATV’s air time”

        Here’s a route for HKTV.

      4. @llwy12,
Thanks and yes, I saw that article! It is great that ATV will be shooting series again. I thought they never would again. I heard that they were going to remake Reincarnated and will ask Norman’s son to play Wan Fei Yeung. I really hope so… But then again, I wonder if the remake will be good or not because the old series was a classic.

  2. I thought No Reserve was originally scheduled to air in April, but it was pulled from the lineup due to the pending court case with the series’ scriptwriter? Unless that court case wraps quickly (which I doubt, since the hearing hasn’t even started yet), I doubt No Reserve will air anytime soon…maybe not within this year even…not sure if that’s a good thing or bad thing…

    1. What’s happening with the court case? TVB suing the scriptwriter, vice versa or…?

      1. I’m not sure who is suing who but its for harassment, thats what i heard.

      2. The scriptwriter is suing TVB — he’s claiming that TVB owes him 100K in back wages. Also, he revealed that the reason why he left TVB last year was because of ‘harassment’ by his female supervisor (verbal sexual harassment and also creating a hostile environment)…not sure if the harassment piece will be part of the charges or not though. TVB of course won’t go down without a fight — they are counter-suing him for fees associated with terminating his contract early (since he left TVB prior to his contract expiring).

    2. Yep, some senior executive confirmed No Reserve will not be airing this year. He said Line Walker and Battle Again Tomorrow is planned for this year (although both are not done filming?) Ben Wong hinted on weibo that The Ultimate Addiction will be airing soon

      1. But i really hope they can settle the problem fast. It is a waste of not being able to show something good. what has it got to do with airing the drama if really there is a conflict between the scriptwriter and the co since he has already left during the filming process of No Regrets. No Reserve has nothing to do with that script writer anymore right?

Hope they can srttle the problem soon.

  3. Watch Selena Li in Spouse for house (SG drama- speaks English). She is good in that drama. Love it.

  4. Aside from current hit series Storm in a Cocoon and Ruse of Engagement

The rating is far from a hit.

  5. Love the picture! Haven’t 2R together in a long time. Looks like they’re still really close.

      1. love them both as well D: two of tvb’s best siu sangs before they are too old, like KM

    1. Me too and it is great to see them together again!!! I love seeing great buddies together because I have not seen them together in a long time.

  6. Glad to see a couple of ancient dramas in the mix.

    1. Me too but it is still not much and the modern series dominates.

  7. me too i really glad to see the films during this year
hope that every one of them would be awesome tv shows
