Steven Ma Hopes to Do His Own Stunts in “Property Protector”

The filming of TVB’s new period drama Property Protector <守業者> will be like a war zone, and Steven Ma (馬浚偉) is ready to accept the action-packed challenge.

Last month, Steven temporarily left behind his production duties in mainland China and returned to TVB to shoot Leung Choi Yuen’s (梁材遠) upcoming period drama Property Protector, a 30-episode epic about a silk-making family in 1930s Foshan. Steven portrays the family’s third son Poon Ka Yeung, an army medic who returns home to investigate the murder of his sister.

The production of Property Protector has made several headlines this week, with most of the media outlets reporting about the hectic filming schedule with the cast falling ill. Lead actress Tavia Yeung (楊怡) was hospitalized for fatigueRaymond Cho (曹永廉) and Katy Kung (龔嘉欣) were reported to have only three hours of rest every day.

Although filming for Property Protector has been rough, Steven still saved a slot in his busy schedule to prepare for the upcoming promotions for the release of his music album this month. He shared that he is currently using his free time to train his voice and lamented that he had to give up his love of playing badminton because of it.

Steven expressed that he is a little unhappy about this and really hopes to pick up the badminton racquet soon to play again.

As for his thoughts on returning to TVB, Steven described, “It gives me a warm feeling… like returning to my old school and meeting with my old classmates.”

Steven revealed that his character will be involved in many explosive battle scenes. The producer assured Steven that he would get a stunt double when needed, but Steven hopes to be able to do the stunts himself.

  1. Has Steven gone for a little face-lift or because he lost weight because of playing sports ?

    1. I think it’s because he has lost weight, and the tan no doubt helps. He looks incredibly tanned in this photo. Is he taking a leaf from Louis Koo, going for a permatanned look?

      1. Personally, I like his paler pasty white look. Suits him better imo. Besides the thought of getting tanned, I think it’s also his because of his makeup foundation under flash photog imo.
