TVB Dating Show “Bachelors at War” Premieres June 10

Dating season is back again! TVB’s 10-episode reality dating show Bride Wannabes <盛女愛作戰>, which aired last year, acquiring an average of 26 rating points during its two-week broadcast life, with an estimate of at least 1.7 million viewers per episode. The success of the love-counseling miniseries gave confidence for TVB to start another – Bachelors at War <求愛大作戰> – a male-oriented dating show.

With 15 episodes planned, Bachelors at War will see eight ordinary “diamond bachelors” competing in a search for their perfect goddess to tie up the nuptial knot. The bachelors will be supported by beauty specialist Queenie Chan (陳莉敏) and her team of image consultants, who will be advising them in how to get the perfect date over the next six months.
The reality show will be designed in elimination challenges. The first stage will eliminate two contestants. The second stage will feature six diamond bachelors bracing through a series of image enhancements and “life-coaching” lectures. Contestants that are deemed “too heartless” will be eliminated. The remaining four contestants will join four other goddesses for a trip to Indonesia, where they will spend time together.
The show’s eight contestants and five participating women attended a press conference for Bachelors at War on Saturday. The diamond bachelors were criticized for looking plain, and producer Sandy Yu (余詠珊) argued, “This is not a beauty pageant. We are not trying to match handsome men with beautiful women.” She further guaranteed that the show will be “very entertaining” and is not afraid of angering professional and academics with its content and social commentary like Bride Wannabes. “I hope the audience will not be too nit-picky.”
Bachelors at War will premiere on TVB Jade on June 10.

  1. They are not cute. Come on. At least have 1 cute guy.

    1. come on.. you can have the guy in glasses with black suit.

  2. yes, a (chinese) reality show! looking forward to it, especially when sandy yu came into tvb and got rid of mr hk, which I enjoyed watching.

  3. omygoodness the bachelors all look dorky Geeessh

    1. isn’t that typical sample of HK men?
come on – we are talking REALITY-TV here. This is not a movie-cast.

  4. lol. 8 guyz and 5 girlz. Does that mean that 3 of the girls will go out with two guys each?
    hahaha lol

  5. Argghhh,… i can’t pick any. If I’m a woman, all 8 bachelors sucks, if I’m a man, all 5 of the girls are a letdown.

Nope, ain’t going to Indonesia for any of them…

    1. You are so fixated on looks, clearly your personality must suck.

  6. I’m watching this show right now. And omfg they’re all freaking ugly. All of their teeth are in such poor condition -that’s the first thing i look at. yuck. Do something about it. And it’s not just face value. They’re all complaining about how hard it is to find a woman, whinging about this and that. That British half blood jerk may be the most good looking but he’s more superficial than all the women in HK combined. All the others, bad teeth, bad skin, bad personality and you want a girlfriend?

    1. HAHAHA maybe that’s precisely why they need to go on such a show to get a girlfriend..

  7. I beg to differ with my overly judgmental netizen comrades. I think all the guys are great and looks are negligible considering how great their personalities could be. This is a reality show, not a male beauty pageant!
