Nancy Wu Accepts Boyfriend’s Marriage Proposal

After one short year of dating her wealthy marketing entrepreneurial boyfriend, Patt Shum (沈柏淳), it looks like Nancy Wu (胡定欣) is finally ready to tie the knot as Patt proposed to her during their five-day vacation in Ko Samui, Thailand in August. It is rumored that Nancy already has her bridesmaids chosen and has started planning for the wedding that will take place next year.

Marriage Before 35 Years Old

Since her past relationship failures with both Deep Ng (吳浩康) and Kenneth Ma (馬國明), Nancy has been looking for the right boyfriend. Last year, Nancy met Patt through a friend, and shortly afterwards, she brought him over to officially meet her parents. Already 32-years-old, Nancy has constant thoughts about marriage and kids. Her maternal side was especially evident over the Lunar New Year as she said, “I hope I can get married soon so I can give out red pockets! I really want to get married before I’m 35 and have kids soon. Although we haven’t dated for a very long time,  my boyfriend and I are at the right age to get married and already discussed this topic.”

To Nancy, Patt is the ultimate boyfriend, as he already has a stable career as the owner of marketing company, Hivemind. Although his family lives overseas, Patt returned to Hong Kong to open his company, which offers advertising and brand management services. Patt also likes kids and has the same vision as Nancy. When he finally popped the marriage question, it is no wonder Nancy rushed to tell all her girl friends to mark their calendars.

Nancy already chose good friend Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) to be her maid of honor, and indicated that her bridesmaids will consist of Elaine Yiu (姚子羚), Mandy Wong (黃智雯), Paisley Wu (胡蓓蔚), and Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤).

On the other hand, Patt’s good friend and partner over the years, Hins Cheung (張敬軒), will be the best man of the wedding. Kenny Kwan (關智斌) will be one of the groomsmen. On August 8, Nancy and Patt held a private dinner to officially announce their good news. While everyone tried dodging the cameras after the dinner, Nancy appeared to be in a great mood and even smiled at the paparazzi.

Marriage Tactics

According to the reports, which point to Nancy’s desperation to get married, she has been dropping hints to get Patt to propose. She first started her plan with a yacht party in which she invited all her close friends, Myolie, Oscar Leung (梁烈唯), Pal Sinn (單立文), and Paisley, and introduced them to Patt. Later during her dinner, she even brought Patt to meet TVB executive, Virginia Lok (樂易玲), to announce their relationship.

Seeing as Patt did not make the move yet, Nancy took the opportunity to frustrate him by pretending to be good friends with ex-boyfriend Kenneth on the set of Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄II>. Exasperated by the futility of her previous methods, Nancy openly showed frustration that Patt did not propose yet while she participated in a wedding fashion show last month.

However, it looks like all her hard work paid off in the end, as Nancy is now happily engaged to Patt.

    Poor Kenneth…

  2. Why can’t these tabloids ever ease up? If she’s getting married then congrats to her. Why do they need to portray her as some desperate schemer that needs to manipulate her boyfriend into proposing?!

    1. exactly! Just be happy for them and stop trying to turn all good things into bad news!

  3. Tabloid comments are quite mean. Portray her as very manipulative woman.

    Congrat to her!

    1. The article does make Nancy sounds scheming and overly desperate to get married.

  4. I wonder if she will continue to work after marriage..

    1. Pity if she chooses Melissa Ng’s route. Another HUGE loss for TVB.

      1. Nancy’s acting is even better than Melissa Ng’s. Agree ……… another loss if Nancy quits acting.

I think she lost her confidence in TVB/acing career. If it is not under her control, she’d start her family (which is still under her control).

    2. It’s quite a loss if Nancy were to settle down this quick when her acting is better than some of the current fadans. Nevertheless congrats to Nancy and her husband to be.

  5. Such exaggeration! Even if Nancy did do those things, I don’t think there is anything wrong with a women who just wants the best for herself. A person can’t be entirely dependent on faith, so it was nice she took matters to her own hands. Congratulations!

  6. these stupid reporters just can’t leave nancy alone can they?

  7. These dirty tabloids really have a knack of turning ‘white’ into ‘black’, why must they even throw a negative spin onto good news and make Nancy seem like a desperate spinster….tsk tsk. They did the same thing to Sonija Kwok when she announced her marriage plans. Really leaves a bad taste in your mouth reading such rubbish articles and makes me feel bad for these celebrities.

Anyway, if Nancy Wu is really getting married soon, then congrats to her!

  8. lol, scheming for a proposal? She sounds like Ivy in FH3.

If the rumors are true, then congrats to Nancy. You know…many of us wondered why Nancy isn’t given the lead role. Perhaps she’s ready to settle down. Would def be a loss.

    1. I think I would if I were in her position. So many junior actress and newbies got promoted, and she is still acting supporting (sometimes not even 1st supporting) roles.

      1. I can’t remember the name of Nancy Wu’s character in FH3, but she was portraying Pro Sir’s (portrayed by Wayne Lai) lawyer wife.

      2. I know it is not Ivy, but cannot remember the character’s name. Thanks for reminding me. It is Eva Chow.

  9. Those reporter should leave her alone.

Hope Patt really treats like a princess and give her lots of love n happiness that she deserves

  10. This is not true, she just denied this and nor is she giving up on her career.

  11. If this is true I am happy for her. Hope she will continue to act though as like her acting.

  12. Love her acting! Much much better than those others youngsters. I cried when she cried and I laughed when she laughed. Why TVB not treasure her and give her the lead role! Sigh…those newbies will take long time to be half as good as she is.
Anyway, Congrats to Nancy! and hope the guy treat you well.

    1. Personally I think Nancy Wu acts better than those top fadans, not to mention those newbies.

  13. ppl date to find a marriage partner. every woman hopes to get proposed to, nancy didn’t really do anything to justify the negative tone, geez. no one can force anyone else to do anything they don’t want anyway. pat likes her enough, he isn’t a looker but he’s successful, and nancy is attractive and has a lucrative job too.

pat likes nancy enough to want to marry her, no need for newspapers to comment. sounds like some single jealous women writing it, lol who knows.

  14. I’m really happy for Nancy over the recent development, that is, her decision to tie the knot with Patt. It will be a different kind of life for her then and hopefully her choice of partner is the right one and that, as is commonly said, they live happily ever after! Co- ngratulations to Nancy!

  15. I personally think the “scheming” part is just fabricated by the media. It almost sounded comical!
Anyway very happy for Nancy, she’s a GREAT actress!

  16. Congratulations to you, Nancy Wu, if that is your plan and decision. Have a happy married life, and a promising career too. I love watching you in drama series. You have never disappointed me.

  17. she’s 32? really?! my god, she looks so young, i thought she was in her late 20’s or something.

    i wish her the best!

    1. I am surprised she is 32 as well! So many TVB actors and actresses look really young and have barely aged! I wish her and her future husband the very best! I hope that she will continue starring in series though, otherwise it will be another big loss for TVB. I think she acts really well as the characters she plays and often look forward to watching her performance in a series, despite her being a supporting character. I don’t know why TVB still don’t promote her as a main character, especially since she has been with TVB for so many years and seems to have a large fan base.
