The Mask follows the hunt for a vengeful serial killer traumatizing the city of Linghai. It turns out the enemy is right under Ji Fan’s nose as a series of incidents leads him to his own family tragedy that occurred 27 years ago.

In one behind-the-scenes videos, he was in excruciating pain while filming an injured scene. Instead of stopping the shoot, he gritted his teeth and acted in real pain, which was intensely expressed through his popping veins, bloodshot eyes, and full-body sweat.
