Cha Eun Woo Soon to Enlist in July

News of Taiwanese male celebrities such as Darren Wang (王大陸), Nine Chen (陳零九), and Teddy Chen Xiangxi (陳向熙) dodging military service has shone the spotlight on the evasion of national duties by celebrities, drawing widespread criticism from netizens.

In contrast, South Korean “face genius” Cha Eun-woo is setting a positive example by preparing to fulfill his military obligations, despite a packed schedule as a high-profile K-pop star.

Currently filming the Netflix superhero K-drama The WONDERFools, the 28-year-old is also set for his big-screen debut in the upcoming film First Ride – about four friends embarking on a trip together on turning 30 – coming up, in addition to concerts scheduled with his group ASTRO in both South Korea and Japan.

It is understood that he has followed in the footsteps of UP10TION’s Kim Woo-seok, WOODS’ Cho Seung-youn, SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan, and NCT’s Jaehyun, having applied for Army Band duties on May 9.

Cha Eun Woo’s application results will be made known on the Military Manpower Administration’s website on May 29, and he is expected to enlist in July.
