Christine Kuo Not Pressured to Lose Weight Quickly

Christine Kuo (苟芸慧) went into a long hiatus after she was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, a hormonal disorder which causes fatigue and fluctuating weight gain.

Though she has already made her on-screen return in the 2016 sci-fi thriller Over Run Over <EU超時任務>, Christine plans to lose more weight before she make a full-fledged comeback.

On Saturday, Christine and veteran actor Andrew Lam (林敏驄) appeared at an event for the Hong Kong Toy Fair. The 33-year-old looked noticeably slimmer and had great spirit, greeting the press with a large smile and joking along with them.

Asking when she would be able to regain her figure from before, she said, “Give me one to two more months. I don’t want give myself too much pressure.” (Will you still do dramas?) “Yes. I’ll wait for the company’s arrangement. Usually they handle these things.” (But is that what you want?) “It doesn’t really matter to me, but I will do my best.”

Christine joked that she now has more time to play video games, especially racing games. When she knew that she would be trying out Project Morpheus—the code name for PlayStation’s new virtual reality set PlayStation VR—Christine couldn’t contain her excitement.

“These game can really make your heart rate go up. It’s so intense! It can probably help me lose weight,” she joked.

On her thoughts in playing a VR racing game, she said, “It’s great. You’re not really on the field so you won’t get injured, but you still feel like you’re actually driving it.” (Will you play it with your boyfriend?) “I’ll be playing it with a bunch of racers! What boyfriend? Today my boyfriend is Andrew Lam.”

  1. The girl wants to eat, just let her do so without needing to blame hypothyroidism every time. All the articles blame that and make it sound like its not treatable. But its common and just need to take a pill a day. She just chose to enjoy her food and don’t want to sacrifice the joy of life so let her be.

    1. @mike wow, your response shows how little you understand this disease. If you’re lucky that one pill per day will help you regain normality but for a lot of people it’s not as simple as that.

    2. @mike I believe the pill helps but to really control it, it require a lot of determination, living a healthier lifestyle and cutting out a lot of food. So not that simple especially if someone like to eat and don’t like to exercise.

She looks good. just keep it up!
