Crystal Liu’s” The Love of Hypnosis to Finally Air” After 7 Years

After a year-long break with no new projects following the broadcast of The Tale of Rose <玫瑰的故事>, Crystal Liu Yifei (劉亦菲) will have another drama aired. The Love of Hypnosis <南煙齋筆錄>, which also stars Jing Boran (井柏然), is finally set to be released in June after being shelved for seven years.

The Love of Hypnosis was completed in mid-2018 but had no follow-up due to controversy involving the supporting actor, Zhao Lixin (趙立新), who made inappropriate remarks on social media. He was subsequently blacklisted and caused the drama’s release to be indefinitely delayed.

Not wanting to scrap the project entirely and suffer major financial losses, investors recently came up with a solution of using AI technology to digitally replace Zhao Lixin’s face and remove him entirely from the drama.

The Love of Hypnosis tells the story of Crystal as the mysterious owner of a fragrance shop who can evoke deep-seated emotions in people through her unique blends. Together with Jing Boran’s character, a theater owner, they witness several love stories that begin with passion but end in regret. However, once they become personally involved, their own story becomes real.

With the release of promotional photos, many netizens praised Crystal’s elegant cheongsam look and Jing Boran’s noble appearance, calling the pairing a perfect match.
