Fabienne Kwan Not Upset Over Pageant Loss

Although actor Eddie Kwan’s (關禮傑) daughter Fabienne Kwan (關楓馨) was regarded as the hot favorite to win Miss Hong Kong 2021, unfortunately she did not place at all. In an interview, the 26-year-old expressed that she was not disappointed, and was already very pleased to have made it to the Top Five.

Lacking eloquence in her communication skills, Fabienne felt she did not perform well during the question and answer segment. She felt that the winner Sabina Mendes (宋宛穎) was deserving of her title due to her “dancing and speaking” skills. “She is also pretty and has a great body. It would be hard for her not to win the crown!”

Reflecting that the pageant helped her to overcome her shyness by focusing on her goals, Fabienne said, “The things that I learned in these three months would normally take me three years to learn. I’m grateful for the opportunity to face these different challenges…. From the start, I didn’t feel as if I was in a competition, because all the girls were supportive of each other.”

Eddie was in the audience to watch Fabienne compete, but left immediately once results were announced. Fabienne stated that her father was not disappointed in her performance. “He just went home to prepare a celebratory event for me!” When reporters asked if she plans on joining the entertainment industry, Fabienne said she would like to try if given the chance.

It turns out that Eddie had booked a hotel staycation for their family of four. Pleased with Fabienne’s performance in the pageant, he said, “She has been working really hard for the past two months, so I wanted her to relax! I spoke with her when she returned to the hotel last night, and she was very happy because the burden has been lifted. I have relaxed as well and am now looking forward to my newest drama The Kwoks or What <我家無難事>. It’s airing–I hope everyone likes it!”

  1. To be really honest, if she had won, many will feel it is unjust. There are just others much better then her… But I am glad she took it positively. And I am sure she has learnt alot in 3months and made some new friends too. Well her all the Best!!

  2. If she won people would likely say tvb is biased. Honestly it’s better she didn’t win, she is now at least famous as people know her name. I find her to be eloquent and personable in her interviews. And my personal opinion think she is better looking than the winner

  3. She’s not the tallest but not short.
She’s pretty but not the prettiest.
    She’s elegant but not eloquent.
She’s not ambitious but not curious.
She has talent but first place was a professionally trained dancer.
She’s personable but didn’t shine. Second runner up Kristy Shaw even outshone her.
Cathy Wong’s height and wit during Q and A outshone her. Cathy Wong made Top 5 and she probably was #4. So, Fabienne getting Top 5 and most likely was #5 makes a lot of sense.

  4. Y’know she’s going to sign a contract with TVB. Her not winning the pageant just means she can go directly into acting gigs instead of waiting around to do MHK duties. It’s a blessing in disguise for her, perhaps.

  5. didnt think she was a strong contender against the other last 4 contestants but its an experience and she made it to the last five so cant be that bad, maybe the previous heats in the semi finals might have given her bad publicity when she got her father to perform on the piano with her, but the three winners were by far the right winners.

  6. winning is just the title she might breakthrough before the winners even has a chance, just saying with her father relation she might be able to land more roles than the winning contestant.

  7. Thought her placing top 5 but not winning was very fitting given her performance and all. It was just… right. Can’t comment more on it, it was just okay the way it was.
