Him Law on Tackling Substance Abuse in “Kids’ Lives Matter”

Hong Kong actor Him Law (羅子溢) takes a darker role in Kids’ Lives Matter <星空下的仁醫> where he plays a pediatrician with emotional baggage and suffers from substance abuse. While Him is gaining attention for his emotionally-charged scenes, the actor confesses that it was very challenging to get into character.

To show a more realistic image, Him reveals that he filmed some of his scenes without any makeup and did a lot of homework for the role , “I have never played such a role before and it was difficult to act out the consequences of substance abuse. I spent a lot of time preparing and thinking about the role and also did some research on the internet.”

While Him’s character deals with his problems, Him laughs that his personal life was a complete opposite, “When I first started filming, my daughter was just born and I was very happy that I entered into another stage of life. However, I had to focus on playing a dark character and the contrast was like day and night. This made the experience very memorable.”

With filming completed, Him is taking a break and won’t be filming until early next year. During this time, Him will be spending some quality time with his daughter Hera and be a good husband and father.
