Huang Xiao Ming Opens Production Company

Huang Xiao Ming (黃曉明), Li Bingbing (李冰冰), Alec Su (蘇有朋) and Charlie Yeung (楊采妮) appeared at a famous brand’s dinner party in mainland China last night. Launching a production studio earlier, new boss Huang Xiao Ming was asked whether he will invite The Message’s <風聲> co-stars, Li Bingbing and Alec Su, to participate in his company’s new films. Xiao Ming noted, “If there is an opportunity to work together again, the relationships among the characters need to be more refreshing!”

The event sponsor of the dinner party arranged Xiao Ming and a child who received eye surgery to perform a duet together. The scene was quite moving. Prior to climbing on stage, Xiao Ming became the “King of the Children.” He especially went to the lounge to break the ice with the children, whom surrounded Xiao Ming eagerly.

Jayne: Many artists are forming their own production studios, following the successful footsteps of Andy Lau.

  1. It takes a huge capital to open a production company, even more to make it successful. Andy toiled for years, used his own money and only recently made a success of it. But there are some actors who open their own production company to develop their own series or movies, more freedom that way. Maybe this is HXm’s way. By the way he is so skinny!

    1. Some artistes have “out of the box” thinking and might want freedom to dictate their own direction in producing movies, so “boom” fork out bucks open their own.

Is HXM’s company linked to other “giant” companies? I’ve read that Daniel/Stephen’s is linked to Huayi Brothers.

    2. Well everyone has to struggle and work hard to get to where they are today which is one of the reasons why I admire ANdy so much. He has come a long way and has worked hard for many many years. Glad that he is successful now and that others are following in his footsteps. Sadly, there are others that work really hard as well but don’t end up as successful.

    3. “It takes a huge capital to open a production company, even more to make it successful.”

Well it depends on what kind of ‘production company’ you’re opening. Do you self-finance or source? Do you contract or employ staff? Do you have studios or not? Do you have permanent bases or temporary? Are you dealing in feature films, independent films, TV series etc.?

From what I’ve seen, its more effort, acumen and management abilities than available liquidity or capital that makes any production company a success. If you’ve got good ‘producers’ that know the market and the game, the financiers will come itself.

      1. @SDS,

You seem knowledgeable and have insights on a variety of topics. 🙂

  2. So far I don’t find Chinese actor from China good looking except this guy. He’s from China am I correct?

      1. Lu Yi.

Lu Yi is a married artist (but still hot) while Liu Ye is a single.

      2. Liu Ye is already married and has a son. His wife his a French woman.

      3. I’m out of date :(. So Liu Ye also got married. Hehe, still like him with Hu Zun, hehe.

      4. I know. I like them as couple in Lam Yu but I know they are straight :P. I mean I wanna see him in a movie/series with Hu Zun again

      5. I heard that Lu Yi was married years ago but didn’t know that he had a daughter. Congrats to him!

I also did not know that Liu Ye married a french girl. Congrats to them and their new son. He is SO cute!! Glad that mainland stars are more open and not marrying only Chinese.

      6. When will Stanley Kwan invite Liu Ye to be in these type of film again 😛

      7. Masaharu

“When will Stanley Kwan invite Liu Ye to be in these type of film again”

Liu Ye and Hu Jun got warning letter from goverment department after filming Lan Yu because the movie was filmed secretly and without permit (because of the subject matter). They were lucky that they only got warning letters and not banned like Tang Wei.

Lan Yu was adapted from an only novel. The novel got a lot more details and talk about other things. Stanley choose to focus on the love only.

      8. Kidd, mainland Gov warned them? This is unfortunate, Tang Wei even more pitiful. Indeed there are a lot of restrictions in mainland film industry.

      9. Tang Wei is banned in China because of Lust, Caution.

Not only her, there are times when Zhao Wei, Rannie Yang, F4 and Gong Li are banned in China. Zhao Wei’s fault is the dress with Japanese flag design. Rainnie Yang dunno the history and F4 said “Taiwan is a country”. Gong Li changed her nationality to Singaporean without announcement to the China government. I dun rmb they lifted banned or not.

      10. Yeah if I’m not mistaken Rainie Yang is banned because she “idolizes” Japanese culture, and the climax is when she said something insensitive and wrong historically about the Nanjing incident.

Other than her lack of knowledge, I personally think Rainie is a symbol of uber-natural-cute.

Liu Ye recently plays Mao Ze Dong. I haven’t watch this yet.

      11. “Zhao Wei’s fault is the dress with Japanese flag design. Rainnie Yang dunno the history and F4 said “Taiwan is a country”. Gong Li changed her nationality to Singaporean without announcement to the China government. I dun rmb they lifted banned or not.”

Jet Li did the same, is he banned in China?

Zhao Wei deserves the backlash but not the insulting feaces thrown onto her, etc. She was stupid. It is still a very very sensitive issue to wear the not the Japanese flag BUT the IMPERIAL JAPANESE FLAG. Same like drapping the Nazi Flag in Germany. You will get arrested in Germany for doing that.

Rainie Yang gave an opinion. Historically, it is still being debated whether Taiwan is independent or not. I personally think it should be. So Rainie yang can’t be penalised for an opinion. But isn’t Rainie a Taiwanese? Sure she would have such opinion. She is banned?

If Tang Wei is unjustly banned, what about Tony Leung?

      12. @Funn: no Tony was be banned. This is why it’s unfair to Tang Wei. Some ppl explained that Tony is HKer while Tang Wei is Chinese, but personally, I dun buy this explanation.

Rainie Yang answered wrongly a question on Nanjing war, she didn’t provided any opinion. Hmm, I think you misunderstand my quote. F4 are the ones who said Taiwan is a country. Because Taiwan is a very sensitive problem to China, they are banned and get backlash, but not so long. However, they dun provide opinion in this case. They did a clip or interview I dun rmb to promote for Taiwan’s tourism and there, they said something like “Taiwan is a country with blah blah”.

      13. Rainie made a very insensitive remark about the Japanes-Sino war. She probably meant it to be funny. Probably want to exaggerate the naive ignorant girl act. But, it hurt the chinese people very much. So, she was banned from China for years.

I guess it’s not an act after all. She was naive and ignorant at that time. She didn’t know what could and what could not be joked about.

      14. Yes, Rainie made a very insensitive remark. She even spoke in such a cutesy exaggerating way (which made me offended and I actually agree her being banned in China)

        Taken from wikipedia page:

In 2003, Yang mistook the eight-year Second Sino-Japanese War as having been eleven years in length during a television program. After learning the actual length of the war, she responded with “Only eight years?” Internet postings exaggerated the incident to include her mistaking the death toll of the Nanking Massacre.

      1. Hehe I got confused at first. I’m not aware of Lu Yi but I like Liu Ye. He’s cute and i like his acting.

    1. Yes he is from China, but I guess you aren’t a fan of China actors because there are many many very handsome and talented actors from China. I guess you don’t watch China series and only stick to TVB so you don’t see them. But trust me, there are many that are just as handsome as Huang Xiao Ming if not more handsome..

    2. What did Tony do to get banned?? I guess Rainie just was not knowledgeable about the Nanjing massacre or was she just trying to make a joke when it was not appropriate?? I think that it may be because she was too young at the time and didn’t know what to say. Many CHinese-Taiwanese like to think that Taiwan is an independent country while China doesn’t think so.. I guess it is just a neverending debate where we must be careful about what we say.

  3. is it just me or he’s getting more and more look like steve ma jing tao? at least from the above pic.

    1. I think he only looks sort of like Steve in that photo, but in other photos, not really…
