Jessica Hsuan Has No Time for TVB

Jessica Hsuan (宣萱) did some outdoor filming for the third installment of the RTHK series Elite Brigade <火速救兵>, a television miniseries about heroic Hong Kong firefighters. Jessica portrays a paramedic, a first in her 20-year acting career. Although Jessica is familiar with playing professional roles, she rarely gets to don uniforms. “I’m really happy I get to wear them this time,” she said.

The 44-year-old actress expressed that she is upset that the action-packed Elite Brigade series is coming to an end. “The writers have no more stories to tell,” said Jessica. “They have already covered many cases. I think this will be the last in the series for now.”

With news that Myolie Wu (胡杏兒), Kate Tsui (徐子珊), and more, possibly leaving TVB management for greener pastures, the station may be going through another period of talent shortage. Asking if Jessica is interested in filming another TVB drama, she said, “I am booked until the end of the year. I don’t have time to film TVB dramas at the moment, bu if the company reaches out to me and offers me a role and story that I’m interested in, I’ll definitely consider it. Right now, I want to try things I want to do. I decided to film [Elite Brigade] because it’s about firefighters, and I never did anything like this before.”
