Mat Yeung Is Released From Jail

Charged for careless driving at Mid-Levels Central back in August 2020, actor Mat Yeung (楊明) received an 18-day jail sentence after an unsuccessful appeal. After serving out his sentence at Stanley Prison, he was released on January 7 – a day earlier than his expected date of release, since January 8 was a public holiday.

Lisa Picks Him Up
On his day of release, over ten reporters had already congregated outside Stanley Prison as early as 7:30 a.m., while two correctional staff started marking out an area for members of the press to gather. Turning up their vigilance, four other policemen were also on duty at the area. Mat’s girlfriend, actress Lisa Chng (莊思明) then arrived at 9:05 a.m. in a white MPV vehicle.

Although the correctional officer had earlier stated that Mat would speak briefly to the press, the actor headed straight for Lisa’s car upon his release. Dressed in a white tee and dark blue outerwear, the 41-year-old ignored questions from reporters who asked him how he was feeling and what was the first thing he wanted to do on leaving prison – but did greet them with “Good Morning”.

Meets with TVB Management
However, Mat did not head straight back home, as the three were spotted parking outside the TVB City (Tseung Kwan O) building, where Mat, Lisa and his manager were seen entering. Mat had reportedly met and apologized to TVB executive Virginia Lok (樂易玲) previously, but did not arrange to meet TVB chairman Thomas Hui (許濤). Responding to press queries, the chairman had stated that the matter was being handled by human resource department and thus he usually would not get involve personally, though he voiced hopes for the artiste implicated to turn over a new leaf.

  1. 3rd times the charm as they say…seriously hopefully he does change his ways, i wouldn’t be surprised if we see him in tvb again by next year…

    1. TVB should let him go, no idea why TVB still supporting a convicted felon with a jail sentence,
Many artists have been terminated for a lot less

  2. Wonder what the general public in HK think about him returning. Suspect TVB may keep him if the public isn’t against the idea especially since TVB is now in dire situation of having younger artists (than Joe Ma, Roger Kwok) whom they don’t need to promote from zero.

  3. he sure have a enorme d to please 620 & Lisa with all the mess.. TVB still choose him in a drama during the process (a drama produced by wong chin)
