More Damaging Allegations Surface Against Meng Meiqi

Debuting as part of the South Korean girl band, WJSN, in 2016, Meng Meiqi (孟美岐) later began acting and was also a part of the Chinese girl band, Rocket Girls 101, for a  two-year period. Despite a promising career, the 23-year-old’s reputation was severely dented when it was exposed that she got involved with music producer Chen Lingtao (陳令韜) while he was still dating his girlfriend.

When screenshots of her flirtatious text messages were revealed, Meng Meiqi and her management company, Yuehua Entertainment, quickly conducted damage control. Clarifying that she was not aware that Chen Lingtao was already in a relationship, Meng Meiqi exclaimed she “unknowingly became a third party.”

When Yuehua Entertainment released an official statement claiming that the singer is currently single, netizens called them out for blatantly lying. A fan revealed Meng Meiqi had spent 16 nights sharing a hotel room with Chen Lingtao in October.

After the cheating scandal broke, Chen Lingtao issued a public apology and attempted suicide, but was criticized by netizens for his cowardice in trying to take his own life instead of being a responsible man.

Actress Li Yanglu (李楊璐) also asserted that Meng Meiqi is a “serial third party” in stealing other women’s boyfriends. Revealing that she used to date singer Emn Chen (陳澤希), Li Yanglu shared screenshots of coy text messages between Emn and Meng Meiqi while the couple was still dating.

In one screenshot, Meng Meiqi was shown to say, “Remember when I told you that there shouldn’t be baggage between two people. Sooner or later, a decision must be made. I know what the decision is. From the beginning, this decision was not me. However, I choose to love bravely. The label ‘third party’ does not suit me. I am Meng Meiqi. I will leave in style when I decide to.” From this conversation, it is obvious that Meng Meiqi was aware of Emn’s relationship status.
