Niki Chow Reconciles with Ex-Boyfriend, Eric Cheuk

Niki Chow (周麗淇)’s love life did not stay empty for long after breaking up with Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) in 2008. A year after their mysterious breakup, Niki met “yarn prince” Eric Cheuk, the heir of the Comfort Yarn Trading Company Limited, through the matchmaking strings of Niki’s sister, Kathy Chow (周汶錡).

Niki and Eric began to date soon afterwards, but Eric’s parents were allegedly not very fond of Niki. Believing that women in the entertainment industry were often gold diggers, Eric’s parents were against their relationship. Eric tried to persuade his parents otherwise, but upon realizing Niki’s “obsession” in wanting to get married to the yarn prince as soon as possible, his parents told Eric to call off the relationship. Pressured by his parents, and getting slightly intimidated by Niki, Eric finally broke up with Niki in December 2011.

According to Sudden Weekly’s claims, Niki realized that she had made a very foolish mistake. After reflecting on her “painful experience,” Niki decided that what she wanted was reconciliation, not a status. In early 2013, Niki successfully reconciled with Eric.

An insider said, “Niki and Eric missed each other a lot after they broke up. Niki never dated afterwards. Although Eric had some girls here and there, he didn’t like any of them as much as Niki. Last year, Niki sent a WhatsApp message to Eric, telling him that she wanted to eat dinner with him before she gets the tumor in her leg removed. Eric knew what Niki wanted. Besides promising to eat dinner with her, he also introduced a specialist to Niki. Soon afterwards they got back together.”

Some of Niki’s neighbors spilled to Sudden Weekly that they have seen a man who resembled Eric coming in and out of her Manhattan Hill home. He often stayed in overnight. When Niki was invited over to Richie Jen’s (任賢齊) Australian concert last month, sources say that Eric also went with her, and the couple chose to stay in Australia to spend their Valentine’s Day weekend. The couple allegedly stayed in the country for over ten days.

The tabloids then went to claim that Niki is keen on sticking to Eric for good, and vowed to never mention the word “marriage” to Eric until they are ready. Niki is also reportedly learning how to change her image to please Eric’s parents. Another insider revealed, “Niki has never really met Eric’s parents before. Eric initially tried to arrange a meeting, but it wasn’t successful. Now that they are back together, Niki is determined to hold onto Eric, so she is planning a ‘mother-in-law strategy’ to win his parents over. [I] heard that Niki finally got his parents to meet her at a dinner.”

Niki’s Response

At a promotional event for TVB drama Sergeant Tabloid <女警愛作戰>, which is currently airing in Hong Kong, Niki was asked to respond to her alleged reconciliation with Eric. Niki declined to give a direct answer, but did send various hints that she is indeed very much in love.

Niki smiled at the mention of Eric’s name, but said, “I will not respond to questions regarding my love life. All I can say is that I am very happy right now.” The reporters tried to pull out more information from her, but Niki stood strong on her ground. “Don’t force me! Let’s talk about the drama. Don’t you think female cops are very brave and outstanding?”
