Oscar Leung Confirms Marriage Application

It is official. After eleven years of dating, 34-year-old Oscar Leung (梁烈唯) and longtime girlfriend, 31-year-old Tina Lok (駱保雯), have finally registered for a marriage license earlier this week! Oscar and Tina, who are currently on vacation in Thailand, confirmed this exciting news in various long distance phone interviews with the Hong Kong press yesterday.

Before his breakthrough performances in 2012’s L’Escargot <缺宅男女> and Tiger Cubs <飛虎>, which helped earn him the TVB Award for Most Improved Actor, Oscar was a struggling actor. Though he portrayed a leading role in his debut film – 1999’s The Young Ones <監獄風雲之少年犯> – the film achieved poor box office results and Oscar struggled to find jobs in the film industry thereafter. When he joined TVB in 2003, Oscar was given only small supporting roles and had low pay. Nonetheless, Tina stayed by Oscar’s side during these difficult times and supported him financially and emotionally.

After his success in L’Escargot and Tiger Cubs, Oscar grew very vocal about his views on monogamy and was quoted saying that he intends to marry Tina soon, stating that he would not be where he is today without the unhindered support of Tina. There were also reports claiming that Oscar had already purchased a new flat under Tina’s name and is moving into the new home with Tina and his parents.

In a phone interview with the press yesterday, Oscar confirmed that he and Tina had applied for a marriage license on October 7, and that they are planning to hold their 50-table wedding banquet sometime in 2014 or 2015.

“We’re looking at a few restaurants, but nothing is confirmed. There are too many things to consider, but what’s most important is to see my guests have a great time. Money is still a problem because it’s very expensive to hold such banquets!”

Oscar denied claims that Tina is pregnant with his child, but did not rule out the possibility of starting a family soon, as Tina loves children.

  1. It is nice to see that Oscar is not one of those men where when they strike it rich or lucky they ditch the woman who stood by their side when they were poor and helpless (: and also Congrats to him!

      1. Jane, that’s quite unfair to Matt Yeung. The reports does show that the girl was the one who left him and not vice versa.

She was unwilling to accommodate to his tough filming times and thus called off the wedding by herself.

      2. I agree with YQ and it is not fair to compare Oscar and Matt’s case. They are 2 different scenarios.

      3. I think Matt has his own problems too. I actually agreed with his last statement saying that he was thankful that he found out about it now and not when he’s married.

  2. wow too bad nobody will give them a free banquet for advertising otherwise I would just use the money for income property

    1. I guess Oscar is not popular/famous enough to get the banquet and other things sponsored for them… That shows how some artists’ status are over others…
