Philip Ng Injures Right Hand and Halts all Work

With the success of A Fist within Four Walls <城寨英雄>, action star Philip Ng (伍允龍) enjoyed an influx of jobs. Philip was also cast to participate in an act for TVB’s yearly grand charity fundraising show. Performing alongside Timmy Hung (洪天明), the duo was rehearsing their act of chopping ice. However, Philip proceeded to chop the ice with his bare hands before knowing where the appropriate area is on the prop, accidentally fracturing his right hand.

Philip shared an x-ray photo of his fracture on social media and half-heartedly joked in his message, “I really am not made of iron.” According to his manager, the 39-year-old actor will need to rest for 12 weeks. In addition to work obligations for TVB, Philip is also scheduled to film a new action movie alongside Donnie Yen (甄子丹) at the end of this month.

Unfortunately, Philip will have to halt all his workload until he fully recovers. His manager lamented, “It can’t be helped! Right now, his hand is wrapped up and he needs acupuncture. The doctor says that luckily, his bone did not protrude out.” When asked whether TVB will offer any compensation due to the injury being incurred during work, his manager said, “I have spoken with producer Ho Siu Wai (何小慧) seven or eight times on the telephone. She feels very badly about it and said the company will pay for all of Philip’s medical expenses.”

Ho Siu Wai confirmed the company’s disposition to pay for Philip’s medical expenses and revealed that they will need to find another artist to replace Philip. “It’s a pity he will not be able to star in the show. In regards to the injury, TVB had purchased insurance for him, so we will follow-up with the medical expenses on his behalf.”

  1. Ouch! That hurts! I hope Phillip recover soon. It can get disastrous if the fracture does not heal properly. Guess Andy’s On’s cute daughter will have to wait 12 weeks for Uncle Phil to take her out again!

  2. Heard of actors fracturing leg and still went on to film a running scene. Super dedicated bunch.
