Red Carpet Fashion at the TVB’s Jubilee Anniversary Gala

2017 is the big 50th anniversary for Hong Kong’s number one television station, and TVB stars are leaving no one unimpressed with their glamorous outfits. From Sisley Choi’s golden gown to Eliza Sam’s body-hugging vintage dress, the jubilee year is going off with a bang of fireworks. Here are some of the red carpet looks at TVB’s 50th Anniversary Gala event on Sunday, November 19.

Roger Kwok (郭晉安) and Wayne Lai (黎耀祥)

The TV Kings coupled up to make their big entrance, wearing matching blacks. Roger chose to wear the local Hong Kong brand KOYO for his jubilee look.

Moses Chan (陳豪) and Kristal Tin (田蕊妮)

The My Ages Apart <誇世代> costars showed up in prestigious evening looks. Kristal chiffon pearl gown looks conservative from far away, but it has a plunging neckline at the front, all the way down to her belly.

Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) and Nancy Wu (胡定欣)

The Unholy Alliance <同盟> superstars shined like a power couple on the red carpet. Ruco boasted a statement with a boldly-cut blazer sewn with different patterns. Nancy’s evening gown unfolded like a flower, and the bodice of the dress was decorated with an intricate bead design.

Michelle Yim (米雪) and Susanna Kwan (關菊英)

It was throwback Sunday for the veteran stars and Heart and Greed <溏心風暴3> actresses, brought back the nostalgia with their red carpet looks. Michelle Yim donned a golden cape dress reminiscent of the 1960’s, while Susanna shined with a hugging body dress sewn with fluffy feathers.

Priscilla Wong (黃翠如), Tony Hung (洪永城), and Grace Chan (陳凱琳)

The next-generation stars took on a simpler look than their seniors. Priscilla relaxed in a flowy robe that allowed a peep of her thighs. Grace tackled a simple pink gown with a plunging back-line.

Eliza Sam (岑麗香)

The Apple-Colada <果欄中的江湖大嫂> star followed her seniors’ footsteps and chose a 20’s-inspired gown for her red carpet look. She was a silver star from up to down.

Jacqueline Wong (黃心穎), Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), and Natalie Tong (唐詩詠)

Jacqueline oozed confidence with her shining gown by J.VERZOTTI. Natalie shows her youthful spirit in a transparent pink gown.

Sisley Choi (蔡思貝)

The Learning Curve of a Warlord <大帥哥> star followed the trends of the night, glistening in a beautiful golden gown.

Matthew Ho (何廣沛), Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), Raymond Cho (曹永廉), and Grace Wong (王君馨)

The stars of A General, a Scholar, and a Eunuch <超時空男臣> teamed up for a playful entrance at the red carpet. Grace wore Vivien Westwood couture.

Crystal Fung (馮盈盈), James Ng (吳業坤), and Louisa Mak (麥明詩)

The 2016 and 2017 Miss Hong Kong winners entered the red carpet with singer-actor James Ng in matching golden hues. Crystal shined in her KEVOLIE couture gown.

  1. Best dress: Jacqueline Wong and Kristal Tin.
Worst dress: Priscilla Wong, Grace Wong and Susanna Kwan.

  2. Most are nice. I like Priscilla’s robe (even though it does look like she’s ready to take a bath lol). It looks so good on her for some reason. Love Nancy’s and Sisley’s too.
Nancy’s hair style at first glance reminded me of Gigi Lai and Esther Kwan. Miss them so much! Especially Gigi!
I’m so glad most actors wore long pants with socks (or at least covered their ankles). Thanks goodness that ugly trend is dying. Of course, Ruco is still representing it, looking like he’s about to go fishing.
Worst outfits IMO: Louisa Mak and Ruco.

    1. @kaykay408 I agree with you. Ruco is the worst dressed male artiste that nite – his attire for the red carpet with that ‘going fishing ‘ pants is just awful. What a mismatch to be paired with a girl so elegant and beautifully dressed!

Then he has to wear that ankle length pants without socks with such formal attire during the performance – bow tie and all. The others look so good… Be it Kenneth, Matt Yeung, Vincent or Ben just to name a few – proper formal attire. What’s with his fashion sense nowadays and to think that the girl he is going around with is a stylist!!! Just wear a proper suit. No more ugly ankle length pants – just doesnt make you look good and please know its a glam n glitz event so dress to the occasion!!

  3. As usual, I didn’t pay much attention to what celebrities were wearing, since I’m essentially “blind” to fashion unless it’s really blatant or glaring. Most of the artists looked nice, though I do agree that Ruco stuck out like a sore thumb with that horrible outfit — especially with the “too short” pants that emphasized the fact that he once again wore shoes without socks (a fashion faux pas that even someone like me who doesn’t care much about fashion absolutely detests).

The fashion piece aside, I have to say that overall, for being such a huge milestone (50th anniversary gala), the program itself was a bit disappointing (though definitely heaps better than last year’s gala). The skit was actually kind of funny this time around (though of course, can’t compare to the “classic” skits from older anniversary galas). For me though, the highlight of the entire show was actually the segment on the “green leaf” artists — for once, TVB actually gave these unsung heroes (the true pillars of all TVB series in my opinion) the credit they deserve, even though it was only for a mere 10 to 15 minutes (which was still not enough time IMO, but compared to no recognition at all in past galas, it’s already a huge improvement). Definitely one of the few times where TVB actually did something right for a change….

  4. Kristal best dress. But Ruco.. Seems intent on just looking silly. Thats not fashion forward. Very disappointed

  5. Ruco’s dressing was okay to me. Guess it’s beauty in the eyes of the beholder! These days guys just like to leave their socks at home!
