Tang Wei (湯唯) maintained a low-key relationship with South Korean director Kim Tae Yong since meeting on the set of Late Autumn <晚秋> in 2009. The couple announced their engagement in early July and tied the knot on July 13 while travelling to the Faroe Islands. The couple will hold a larger wedding banquet to celebrate with their family and friends in the fall.
Tang Wei’s management agency explained why Tang Wei and Kim Tae Yong chose to get married in the Faroe Islands, “The trip to the Faroe Islands is Tang Wei’s pilgrimage for the late Swedish director, Ernst Ingmar Bergman since Bergman’s House has always been a place that Tang Wei wanted to visit. Kim Tae Yong also admires the director. When they reached their destination, they were like characters in movies – they were very touched and in order to commemorate this journey, they spontaneously decided to hold a wedding ceremony according the local customs.” The couple exchanged wedding vows at Bergman’s House.
Tang Wei released their wedding photos earlier this week. Having a knack for traditions, Tang Wei’s fall wedding banquet will incorporate traditional Chinese elements.
For the design of her wedding pastries, Tang Wei had the bakers mark the cake with the Chinese character “double happiness” while adding the couple’s initials onto the design. Using red and gold as their theme colors, Tang Wei’s wedding pastries will be wrapped in boxes marked with swans to represent their love and devotion.
