“The Ghetto-Fabulous Lady” to Have Lesbian Romance Subplot?

The TVB period drama The Ghetto-Fabulous Lady <福爾摩師奶> starring Adia Chan (陳松伶) is currently the hottest topic in town. A mystery drama set in 1940’s British Hong Kong, the drama features Adia as a hands-on investigator who solves serial cases in the city. While viewers are excited for the unveiling of the culprit in the next episode, netizens viewers have other things to be excited about.

In a teaser for the upcoming episode, Miss Ngai (Jeannie Chan 陳瀅) and Yiu-yiu (Kaman Kong 江嘉敏) are seen snuggled in bed together. Miss Ngai holds Yiu-yiu’s hand and tells her, “Will you come to England with me? We can go out, have a walk, and who knows? Maybe there’ll be a new start.”

Though not explicitly stated in the teaser, the scene seems to imply that Miss Ngai and Yiu-yiu may be in a lesbian relationship.

Kaman was approached by reporters to comment on the relationship, to which she said, “The producer told me to not say anything.” After pressing for more information, she gave in and said, “The only thing I can reveal is that Miss Ngai is an alpha.” Shen then clarified, “Because of Miss Ngai’s situation, she does admire Yiu-yiu and a bit envious of her kind and genuine personality. She does have very interesting feelings towards her. Their relationship is kind of strange.”

As for working with Jeannie Chan, she said, “We are close. We would go out and eat together. This isn’t our first time working together, but it is our first [bed] scene together. We were all over each other, so it was kind of embarrassing, at least on my part. I turned really red, and even the crew said they’ve never seen me look that shy before!”
