Vincent Wong’s Top Picks for TV King and TV Queen

With the annual TVB Anniversary Awards ceremony taking place this Sunday January 12, Vincent Wong (王浩信) reveals his top picks for Best Actor and Best Actress.

Having already won Best Actor for his performance in Legal Mavericks <踩過界> in 2017, Vincent is nominated for the award again this year for The Man Who Kills Troubles <解決師>. Although he is in the competition, Vincent is giving his vote to Kenneth Ma (馬國明) and Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) – both had performed outstandingly in Big White Duel <白色強人> and The Defected <鐵探> respectively.

Regarding his own chances for an award this year, Vincent said that viewers have been very supportive of The Man Who Kills Troubles. He is very proud of how the series turned out. Stressing that his top goal is not winning awards, Vincent is more concerned about perfecting his performances. Resuming his character role in Legal Mavericks 2 <踩過界Ⅱ>, Vincent wants to further improve and hope for a second breakthrough in his acting.

As for TV Queen, Vincent believes the two strongest contenders are Kara Wai (惠英紅) and Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅). He also praised Selena Lee’s (李施嬅) performance in the supernatural hit series, Barrak O’Karma <金宵大廈>. Vincent expressed, “I do have my eyes on Wonder Women’s <多功能老婆> Miriam Yeung. The entire cast and storyline fit very well together, and it made her character even more outstanding. Also, she hasn’t filmed a series in a while and many viewers thought it was refreshing to watch. However, Kara is also very popular this year and I think that they’ll be neck and neck in competition. It’s hard to say – let the viewers decide.”

I like Benjamin Yuen for light-hearted comedic or flirtatious roles, he is still not great in dramas. He has improved to be less wooden, but isn’t there yet. His role in The Defected is an award winning character and storyline, but his performance wasn’t. Phillip outshone him.

Vincent is great, but his The Man Who Kills Trouble was quite bland. Hopefully, he won’t be restricted to these types of roles after winning Best Actor.

@potatochip I agree about BY and VW. He acted the flirtatious guy in LW2 and I really like him there. I never like him in any other roles. VW is great. He’s got the looks and I quite like his acting and most of his roles that he played. TMWKT is just ok to me as well, no wow factor but he was great in it thou.

@wm2017 agree. VW acting is consistently good but no wow factor in TMWKT.
I personally prefer Benjamin than Ruco and he acted well in both LW2 & The Defected.

I’m surprised VW didn’t mention philip.
Pretty sure this year BA goes to Kenneth Ma
