Yammie Nam Accepts First Official Interview in Years

Yammie Nam (藍潔瑛), who was once one of TVB’s most popular actresses in the 1980s, suffered a roller coaster life throughout the decades. With the recent re-run of TVB’s hit The Greed of Man <大時代> currently underway, Yammie accepted her first interview in years and revealed tidbits of her current life.

In the interview, Yammie appeared in far better spirits than before. During her debut, Yammie was dubbed the prettiest actress in all 5 of Hong Kong’s broadcasting stations. Being reminded of her nickname again at age 51, Yammie humbly said, “If you’re pretty, then it’s just pretty – it’s not necessary to say the prettiest. I’m not really that attractive – I think Rosamund Kwan (關之琳), and Michelle Reis (李嘉欣) are very pretty.”

Yammie’s Financial Struggles

Suffering from depression and mental illness, Yammie halted her career in recent years. After her savings dried up, she eventually had trouble sustaining basic living expenses. Besides residing in public housing, Yammie relied on welfare payments to make ends meet. Without maintaining lasting relationships with her family or friends in the entertainment industry, Yammie has mostly survived on her own, with the exception of occasional church friends and neighbors lending a helping hand.

Thanks to The Greed of Man re-run, Yammie’s fans and even little children began greeting her when she steps out or eats at restaurants. Yammie appreciated the conversations and the concern than fans showed.

  1. Yammi kinda looks like Tsa Siu Yan (the famous talk host) in above picture.

I hope she gets some sincere, no-agendas support and help she needs to move on healthily.

  2. I really hope she can let go her sad past and get back on track to start new life.
