Kenneth Ma Displays Gentle Nature While Filming

With his good looks, hardworking attitude, and friendly disposition, Kenneth Ma (馬國明) became a favorite of many female viewers. The 39-year old’s career hit a new height after starring in 2012’s The Hippocratic Crush <On Call 36小時>. His portrayal of the righteous but emotionally vulnerable neurosurgeon Cheung Yat Kin won over many hearts, elevating his status as one of the most eligible bachelors in the entertainment industry. It appears that Kenneth is a true gentleman both on-screen and off, happy to accommodate co-workers to achieve the perfect shot.

Kenneth, Tavia Yeung (楊怡), and Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) gathered to film an outdoor scene for The Hippocratic Crush 2 <On Call 36小時II> today. Kenneth was the first to arrive and went straight to the crew to discuss the script. Tavia came in soon after and immediately headed to the makeup trailer to freshen up.

Benjamin, who plays Mandy Wong’s (黃智雯) boyfriend in the series, was caught with a sandwich in his mouth upon arrival. Benjamin appeared embarrassed when he discovered cameras but quickly finished his meal before preparing for the day’s work.

Kenneth and Tavia proceeded to film their portions on a slanted sidewalk, with Tavia standing at the lower end of the incline. Due to the slope, there was a significant height gap between the two even though Tavia was already wearing 3-inch heels. Kenneth quickly lowered his stance to compensate, standing with his feet wide apart to appear shorter on-screen. The scene took some time to complete the scene because of many outtakes, but Kenneth maintained his pose and did not complain.

Benjamin entered the scene later, roughly grabbing Tavia’s arm to pull her away. Although it was an emotional scene, the three actors often broke into laughter, taking nearly half a hour to finish filming. After a fun day at work surrounded by good friends, Tavia was in a good mood, happily waving to reporters as she left the set.

    1. I also like Benjamin. He’s very good looking and I hope that he would get more roles in the upcoming series (:

      1. Yeah i agree too; looks a bit like Lee Min ho from Korea, but i don’t like the way he speaks…

  1. awww. they sound so sweet together

I feel so sorry for Kenneth.
if only Hippocratic crush 1 aired at the end of last year, Kenneth would have secured the TVB King title last year.

It all comes down to timing and luck. The confidant aired towards the end of the year, which left a good impression on teh hongkongers when they were voting

    1. yeah, I share the same sentiments as you. While Wayne was good in The Confidant, I personally found Kenneth and Raymond better in THC and HAL respectively. The award should have gone to either of them (preferably Kenneth who left an extremely lasting impression as Yat Kin Tou in THC).

This year should be Ruco’s year, judging from the number of dramas he’s leading, some of which are heavyweight dramas. I’m not saying Ruco isn’t deserving, my heart just goes out to Kenneth’s. BA was supposed to be his last year. Better luck next time, Kenneth.

      1. agree in kenneth but not on raymond. raymond has benefited from good slot for HAL and big hype from media and tvb but still lost to wayne and kenneth in votings. raymond was just being another raymond lam with his ongoing forlorn expressions on his face just like his other roles. it was michael miu who should be nominated to represent HAL.

wayne was good in confidant, bur agree that kenneth is robbed because of the bad airing time for on call. i share his feelings about the off good season airing of on call. if on call has aired within sept-nov instead kenneth might have chance to win over wayne.

      2. glad that this year both of kenneth series are getting better airing time. tvb has postponed triumph2 to let the low ratings summer season i think may-july pass and after that maybr airing triumph 2 between aug-nov. on call 2 rumoured to be either lighting or anniversary series which means airing in oct or nov.

      3. kenneth and ruco are really the top contenders this year. yes ruco is doing well with all his consecutive leading series including grand anticipated series brother’s keeper and ruse if engagement and kenneth has two promising series to be aired in the last 3-4 months before anniversary.

one of kenneth or ruco should be tv king this year!

      4. @sel fi wu,

I think Ruco can wait this year. Kenneth is literally desperate for this year’s title, and he’s waited long enough for this

      5. I think if TVB is pushing back the production date for TITS2, there is a high chance that TVB is pushing Kenneth to be the TV king this year since they are showing Ruco’s drama now.

This happened to both Wayne and Tavia. But time will show all, I suppose.

  2. I like kenneth more and more. I hope he will settle down soon.

Raising a children after a certain age is no joke.

    1. Kenneth can hire a maid or nanny to look after the kids..

and with his charms, he can easily find any gal of any age.

      1. Kenneth seems like a person who would rather prefer to physically raise his own kids himself. Afterall, he is a very family-oriented male, i’m sure he’d wnt his own kids to feel like they have a close father than just their financial supporter.

I dont think he should settle down soon JUST for the sake of settling down…of course age limits things, but if the time isn’t right, why force it upon yourself? And it’s not simply having the plan or mentality to settle down and the jobs done. Finding the right partner is the biggest and most difficult step imo. If someone’s purely just seeking for a partner to settle down quickly, the chances of finding the wrong partner for life is high as they’d probably find themselves compromising to anything, which leads to complications =BREAKUPS AND DIVORCES…
