Ron Ng Feels Pressure Working with Anthony Wong in “The Hero”
Hoping to bring back veteran stars from the 1990s, TVB invited Anthony Wong (黃秋生) to film The Hero <梟雄>. The confirmed cast list also features Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), Ron Ng (吳卓羲), and Kenneth Ma (馬國明). Producer Amy Wong (王心慰) is hopeful that Kent Tong (湯鎮業) will also be able to join the 30-episode period drama as well. While filming has not commenced yet, Ron is already feeling stressed in co-starring with Film King, Anthony Wong.
Although having worked with many skilled actors in the past, Ron felt a different level of pressure this time. Ron said, “Working together with Anthony does have its pressure. He was actually the teacher for my [TVB] acting classes. I have to prepare well, so I go jogging every day to make sure I’m in shape. After working with Francis Ng (吳鎮宇), I understand film actors’ personalities now. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from Anthony.”
Coming into the station for a promotional interview for the upcoming Miss Hong Kong Pageant contest, Ron was noticeably several shades tanner and appeared relaxed after a long vacation. Since The Hero also stars TVB’s own TV King, Wayne Lai, Ron felt double the pressure on his shoulders. Fortunately, Ron took a long vacation to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Japan to relax before the drama starts shooting in June.

It is really a pressure for Ron Ng to co-star with Anthony Wong and Wayne Lai since Ron’s acting is rather weak and wooden! It may also be a pressure for Kenneth Ma too, maybe not as much.
It will surely be a good drama series with good acting. Look forward to watching it.
I think Kenneth Ma is only guest starring so maybe less pressure?

I am not a Ron’s hater. It is my personal opinion about Ron Ng’s acting. I have no objection if you are Ron Ng’s diehard fan.
Yea,everyone has a different opinion. I personally think Ron’s acting is ok and he can be good depending on the role,but not so great in some other roles. However,he is not the worse actor that I have ever seen since I have seen worse.
Of course he’d feel the pressure acting along Anthony Wong. With his level of acting, who wouldn’t? And I don’t think Anthony would be the type to let you get away with slacking off, mediocre acting either.

Ron got through with acting with Francis so he should do fine acting with Anthony. Yes,maybe Anthony will bring out the best in Ron and help him Improve his acting?
Well said HTS. I think Ron was a stand out in TITS2, especially when he is acting with Francis Ng. I hope this series will be good, the cast is good but without good script, direction and costume this could bomb out.
I feel that Anthony is harder to work with than Francis. I’ve watched Dinner Confidential and I dislike Anthony’s attitude and how he kept interrupting the guests. Come on, he is a host not a guest, he should at least let the guests complete what they want to say and try to look like he is paying attention even though he may not be interested in what the guests were saying. (sorry for the rambling, really couldn’t stand his attitude)
Plus the incident about the artistes club election. Francis may have high expectations of the artistes he worked with and having a bad temper, but he was actually quite easygoing in the interviews and shows that I have watched.

Thanks Puff and totally agree with you that a good series needs a good script,plot, and many other factors in order to be good because there is more to a series than just the cast.
To be fair,it really depends on the person. For example,many said that Wong Hei is hard to work with but Linda got along really well with him and had nothing but praises for him. I have a good feeling that Ron will be fine working with Anthony and will learn a lot from him too.
Ron’s willing to Learn and Improve, so I have confidence in him.
I do hope Ron learn a thing or 2. And lose some weight or go to the gym to get buff.
i dont understand what people mean by ron having weak acting skills… i think ron is one of the best actor.. he should try his luck in doing action packed movies

Totally agree that Ron is one of the best actors. Atleast I think he acts better than Raymond who is suuuuuuuuuuuper famous.
Actually comparing him to other leading actors(Raymond, Bosco, Ruco….etc) he is considered the one with the weakest acting skills even though he got promoted before a majority of them. The thing about him is that he got great on screen charisma other than that, he’s pretty much the same in every other series he’s in. Same movements, gestures, expressions and what not.
Finally someone that thinks like me. Ron is great but he just got a bit chubby. And he needs to sleep more. And he is better than Ruco.
Better than Ruco??? Seriously??? You gotta be either kidding or delusional. If he were better than Ruco, he wouldn’t be relegated to sidekick status to Ruco in ROE and lose his first lead status in many other dramas. It’s delusional fans like you who blame others for stealing his lead status when the only person to blame is Ron himself for not brushing up his skills and instead spend his time chasing skirts, having pool parties and boozing his liver to death.

I’m sure audience will regret awarding Kenneth with My AOD best actor award, after this drama is out. Hope he doesn’t ruin the drama.
Hopefully Ron become another lead again and I hate Tvb for using Ron as the usable Police role and makes him supporting cast too much. And promote Ruco and Kenneth Ma too much.

2. each of these male leads do carry their craft well specific series.
3. what I pity most is any performer working with Anthony wong, the mouther and so full of himself.
