Sharon Chan Marries William Lui in Bali

Sharon Chan (陳敏之) married long-time boyfriend, William Lui (雷偉信), in Bali, Indonesia. The couple kept quiet about their wedding plans although they were spotted at the airport earlier this week flying to Bali. Sharon’s wedding photos were released today, showing a stunning beach ceremony attended by good friends.

Sharon has been dating William, the owner of a lighting business, for ten years. In 2010, the couple already had plans for their future together when they purchased a $5 million HKD condo apartment in Clearwater Bay. Although Sharon often dodged details about their intended wedding date, the 35-year-old often praises William as an attentive boyfriend in interviews. Sharon suffered extreme discomfort when she broke her collarbone filming Ghetto Justice <怒火街頭>, but William took very good care of her, even helping her shower.

Dreamy Beach Wedding

William proposed to Sharon on her birthday in January and the couple booked their wedding venue six months ago. As she always loved warm beaches and tropical paradises, Sharon’s dream wedding was to get married in a small church in Bali.  It was estimated that they dropped a seven-figure sum on their luxurious wedding.

Sharon invited many of her close friends in the entertainment circle to join her on this special occasion. Since Sharon has an extremely close relationship with god sister, Christine Ng (伍詠薇), Sharon knelt down during the traditional Chinese tea ceremony.

“Since I’m Christian, I already started crying before I entered the church. I cried many times since I was very happy and the atmosphere was unforgettable. Thanks to my friends for helping out. My mother was very happy and comforted to see me get married,” Sharon said.

Oscar Leung (梁烈唯) and his wife, Stefan Wong (黃長興) and wife Peggy, were among the many friends who were on Sharon’s guest list. Stefan said, “The wedding venue was beautiful and we witnessed the newlyweds’ ten-year love journey. I wish them forever happiness. I’m very happy to witness their wedding.”

Christine, who has been taking care of Sharon as a little sister for years, cried several times on the wedding day. Christine said, “I won’t reveal what I gave as the wedding gift, but it is a token from my heart. Even if we argue in the future, she’ll still remember me. She will definitely love this gift to death!”

Sharon disclosed that she will continue her acting career after marriage. Denying rumors that she is pregnant, Sharon expressed that she will continue to adhere by her principles and will only have children after marriage.

  1. Congratulations, Sharon and William. Have an everlasting marriage together forever.

  2. Bali seems to be the new choice for celebrity weddings.

    1. Anywhere is better than being pestered by the Hk paps imo. It’s a wedding afterall 🙂 I like that Sharon took it low profile, and to share the special event with her close and loved ones . Wish the two all the best for their future together !

  3. Wow can’t believe sharon and her bf have been together for 10 years. Glad they finally tied the knot. But wow she kept her wedding so secretive until the actual wedding ceremony

  4. @Sharon Chan

Hey other women get emotional from sheer love and the happiness of marrying the man of their dreams that they cry too, even before entering the church. Not only “christian” brides……okay?.

Since you are throwing the fact that you are christian around in others faces, a true christian does not set up house with a man before they are married, it is called living in sin.

Congrats to you and your husband.

    1. I dont thoink she meant it that way. I think shemeant she became emotional when she was about to enter the church because it means something important to her to marry herbeloved in a church. And it should mean something since she is a christian.

Nice wedding, not liking her wedding dress.

    2. For Christians, to get married in a church means to have their union acknowledged and blessed by God. For a Christian, that is a very special and important moment. I don’t think she is throwing her identity and a Christian around. She’s just very very happy.

      1. Huh, really ? I know she’s Christian, but why would she only be inviting her Christian friends to her wedding ? I’m sure non Christian people are also able to witness a couple getting married in a church, right ? It’d be kind of funny to not invite relatives and friends who are close to her but not Christian…

      2. Usually people hold two ceremonies. One is in church/mosque/temple and one in hotel/restaurant/hall.

My Moslem friends for example, invited me to their wedding parties in hotel but they would never in million years invited me to mosque to witness their ceremony since non Moslem aren’t allowed to step in.

The opposite too happen, my Moslem friends would come to other people parties in hotel but they would never step in in church or temple.

      3. Not the wedding party but for Akad Nikah (I don’t what it is called in English) to legalize the union in their religion.

    3. Isn’t it a bit too nit-pick from your part? in contrast to all your defend excuses for the lovely lousy father who calls Nicholas? lol

  5. So happy for them! I love how Sharon keeps her personal life away from the media. Love, love, love this.

  6. Beach wedding seems to be the trend for the HK celebrities and destination is Bali

    1. So that they can make their weddings small but romantic.

    2. I noticed that too. This is out of the blue but congrats! Hope they are happy forever.

    3. Actually tropical island weddings have long been popular among the hip Asian crowd as long as at least 20 yrs ago.

Bali, Thailand (Ko Samui, Pattaya for example), Maldives, Mauritius etc … they all have their own Club Meds and nests of hotel resorts where weddings have been happening forever.

Yrs ago, Carina Lau and Tony Leung had theirs in Bhutan, which is a little lesser known and remote.

      (1) It offers an excuse NOT to invite the obligatory crowd of relatives who have not been seen or heard of for yrs, but yet cannot be offended by deleting off the guest list. Or are parent/grandparent generations friends and relations. And the obligatory work colleagues

      (2) It scales down the Chinese wedding ‘gong show’ … and allows for classier, contemporary and intimate celebration with people who really matter.
With guest-invites only going out to people are close relatives and friends the wedding couple WANT there. Way more meaningful!

(3)It’s actually far less expensive than throwing 30 tables /300 guests at hotels. In Singapore for example, costs are about S$1200 per AVERAGE hotel wedding table, with rates soaring way higher at the top ones like Shangri-La or Marina Bay Sands.

And later, coming back to just throw a smaller-scale dinner/tea party for relatives with slide-show of island wedding and solemisation ceremony, or even simpler = deliver hotel-pastries cakes and announcement card to relatives.

  7. congrats to Sharon and William, Bali is a beautiful place indeed, wish them happiness forever

  8. Sharon is a very beautiful girl but she’s in need of some fashion lessons. Still love you. I think you’re a genuine sweetheart, a good girl next doorsy type. =D

    1. Lol, fashion is subjective and personal dear. There is no right or wrong fashion styles or trends. It all comes back to the person whose wearing the fashion. If a piece of clothing makes one feel good and confident or allows them to express their expmotions visually, then hey why not? 🙂 lol, a bit off topic haha

  9. I wonder if her acting suffered because of preparing for the wedding. Her last couple roles sucked big time.

Anyways, congrats! Happy marriage and life!!!

Sidenote: why is Oscar’s shirt is sleeveless? Is he trying to be funny or showing off his tacky little mini mouse “muscles”? Lol.

  10. Waaa, 10 years. Awesome and she looks so HOT up there. haaha..LOL.. Wow, congrats!!

  11. Wow, I wonder what Christine have her!? Must have been something very valuable. I think it is more than money.

    1. Is Christine rich? Can it be a car or a house? Can’t think of a gift where Sharon will love it but argue with her to death lol.

    2. I also wonder what it was. My guess is maybe gold jewelry? I remember reading Maggie Chan gave Kenix a pair of dragon and Phoenix bracelets since they were close like sisters. That is a gift that a bride would love to death.

      1. >>> That is a gift that a bride would love to death.

Not really. Perhaps for the very traditional-minded generation, maybe.

Those bracelets are also akin to giving gold bars and thick gold chains = practical for price of gold maybe, but otherwise to be kept in the safe deposit box forever.

Even for occassions – it’s a little much ‘gold’. Platinum (or gold washed over) and diamonds have long replaced the ‘crassness’ of gold-overdose, unless it’s gold in little doses.

  12. sharon chan indeed the hottest TVB actress alongside selina li and grace chan…now sharon has indeed married with her long term partner and they are so loving… why is sharon best friend is only christine (woman)? i remember sammy leung also her best friend

    1. Yeah tavia did give her blessing to her via weibo, but I’m sure she knew well and truly beforehand that she was gonna get married and helped her keep it a secret. So lovely to see Christine being there though, their friendship seem almost like real sisters.

  14. She’s tall n beautiful, wish her happiness after her marriage
