Wallace Huo Denies Prostitution Rumor
Taiwanese actor Wallace Huo (霍建華) has been the subject of the rumor mill for various times in the past year, but none as shocking as this most recent reveal. According to mainland news sources, Wallace is suspected of having visited a prostitute in July of last year. However, on October 3, Wallace’s production studio issued a press statement denying the prostitution rumors.
The rumors broke out when netizens came across the Sina Weibo account under the name of “Five Flavors Imperial Concubine” (五味嬪). Known as the princess of a nightclub, this Weibo account user had published three posts last July, saying that a popular celebrity had spent the night with her.
“Today I am extremely excited, because my most adored idol (who is also my fantasy boyfriend) came to my house,” she gushed in the first post. “It’s a pity that he didn’t let me take any pictures, because he is a top celebrity! I can only say that I will never forget this moment for the rest of my life.”
She also revealed that the celebrity had long eyelashes and a straight nose, and that he slept at her house until 1 a.m. After waking up, he refused to take a photograph with her, and instead turned on the television and headed to the restroom to take care of business.
Currently, there is no direct evidence to prove that Wallace is the celebrity in question, and the related Weibo posts have since been deleted. Some netizens remain skeptical, claiming that Wallace has previously romanced beauties like Rosamund Kwan (關之琳), Ruby Lin (林心如), Joe Chen (陳喬恩), and possibly Viann Zhang (張馨予), so his taste would never dip so low as to turn to a prostitute. However, netizens dug up a picture of an autograph that the prostitute procured from the celebrity, and the signature appears to match Wallace’s.
In response to queries, Wallace’s manager initially replied, “I actually am not very clear about this situation. To tell the truth, I am still in the middle of figuring it out. The situation is rather complicated, so I can give a response only after it is clarified.” Despite this, some netizens discovered that the “Five Flavors Imperial Concubine” Weibo account had previously been followed by Wallace’s manager’s secondary account.

Additional to that vague initial response. If not true, you would usually DENY DENY DENY. They most likely didn’t want to risk something that could be contradicted before they knew all the facts.

It’s okay if anyone (models) decided to take nude pictures. But the whole chaos happened when some of the models lodge police reports as that uncle not only took their pictures but touches them.

You are bias Sel Fi Wu. I like Wallace and all, but I will not just say that it is a fake rumour. Who really knows the truth besides him??? But of course even if it were true, he will not admit to something like this because it will ruin his image and reputation.
I’m indifferent for Wallace but I think he’s safe as long as no concrete proof ever come out. I mean this is a far cry from Benny & Joe’s infamous incident where every moves are documented and presented in magazines front page headlines.
Even if it’s true and hurt his career, he can always make a comeback later. People will remember these dark incidents forever, but with apologies and good drama projects and characters he can easily got accepted again. Cases in point: look at Benny & Joe duo. The rape alleged Park Si Hoo also just made his public apology and ready to strike a comeback again.
True but IF this were true and there is proof of it, then it will be a blackmark for him… However, if there no proof then he is safe as long as he does not allow this to happen again(if he truly did do it in the first place).

That does sound gross 🙁 But we have to sympathise with them (even though some may argue that those who enter the entertainment industry should be prepared for all this). Some youngsters are just following their dreams of money and glamour in the entertainment industry and closed their eyes to the stories of the things they may have to do to achieve their dreams.

It was a huge scandal at the time (I remember all american talk show hosts having a field day making fun of this incident, lol ) and caused great embarrassment to Liz Hurley, Hugh Grant’s girlfriend. Hugh Grant had to lay low for a long time after that, but his career eventually recovered.
I notice that in Hollywood, male celebrities are given second chances to recover their career after falling in disgrace (case in point – Hugh Grant caught with his pants down with a prostitute, Robert Downey Junior for being a hardcore drug addict) more often than female celebrities. Actresses who mess up seldom get embraced by the public as easily again. For example, Winona Ryder’s career went straight down the drain when she was caught for shop-lifting and she has never been able to get her career back to where it was before the incident.

Yup, Drew Barrymore is one of the few exceptions who has blossomed into a very respectable and successful actress, she has certsinly come a long way from her troubled childhood and teens years. I think in Drew’s case, many people genuinely want to see her turn over a new leaf as we sort of saw her grow up from being that adorable child on E.T.(and it doesn’t hurt that her godfather is Steven Spielberg, a very powerful and influential film director). Many other child stars who fall by the wayside due to too much partying and drugs fail to transition into grown up stars.

for now i could only think of 3 scenarios: (whether this is related to wallace or not).
a: the girl doesn’t have any bad intention towards the specific idol in question. she is just too happy and gushing about it. and this will quiet down as the respective manager talks to her, how much affect this could have on the idol in question.
b: the incident did take place with the idol (doesn’t have to be wallace) and the girl is happy. and afterwards she has bad intention and posted such remarks to get some benefit out of this. and this is resolved by the idols management.
c: the incident did not happen, the girl only want to gain more fame. and didn’t gave any names so she can’t be held legally responsible for damaging reputation of a specific idol. and the thing is going out of control.
anyways, there is no obvious evident about anyone or any incident or anyway so why the fuss about it.
the only prove she has is a possible signature. assuming it’s real. the reasoning:
the signature + she says they spent a night together is not enough to prove that what she says is true. anyone with his signature can say the same.
elle, I read she did name names in her weibo when everyone was gushing over her gushing. She later denied she slept with him. She just spent time with him. And everyone knows who he is talking about because there’s the autograph.

Now you can say this is taking care of “backside” strategy as in picture can be before or after. But fans swear the timing is true. So there, photo evidence he can’t be doing the girl and doing the shopping AT THE SAME TIME.
2. You can buy his autograph online. Not concrete proof.
3. Why would a star so very private about his dating life be so darn careless in leaving an autograph??
4. the girl did not name Wallace. She boasted of an encounter, she named the guys as someone with long lashes and we all know who is famous for having long lashes. She has been having this fantasy thing going on I suppose.
5. She later retracted her boasting and said she never said Wallace, etc but he did spend the noon or day or whatever with her. Now my question is why? So they can have a meaningful conversation? Either he did or he didn’t.
6. Maybe he has a taste in certain women that much I admit. But surely he won’t be so open about this?
7. Wallace NEVER respond to any allegations of a girl in his life, hence all quiet in the Viann issue BUT this time his production company issued an official statement and a legal threat which to me sounds like Wallace means business. I know about Hugh Grant case. I know how it happened, why it happened and what happened after and I can tell you it is not at all similar with the allegations against Wallace. I even know the name of the prostitute and what they were doing when they were caught.
I understand that people don’t want their idols to be a guy who sees prostitutes. Just like I doubt women want a boyfriend who has seen prostitutes in the past. However, these men do exist and research suggest they are not different from men who hasn’t.
To me, prostitution is bad because of the people who are forced to do it. If people on the other hand have chosen the profession because they love sex and/ money, then it’s their choice. As long as he isn’t paying for an underage sex slave, then I see no reason to think less of him. Especially, because none of us really know a celebrity nor are we as close to them as we wish to think.
Men have needs, so it’s not wrong, it’s actually his choice. However, like you said, no one wants to see someone they care for associated with such a thing because you would think they have more respect for women and not be selfish enough to cater to their physical urges.

@Charbydis, what you said is somewhat true… but still it’s disgusting if this is true. If he has already started whoring when he’s young and with such looks, what are the chances he’ll stop going for outside entertainment when he’s married? Bad habits do not just go away.
I’ve heard stories of shy, young men being taken to frequent clubs and prostitutes by their friends and end up addicted (it’s another vice just like drugs, drinking, gambling or smoking). I’m sure in their line of profession, these girls would do anything (either willingly or by force) to please their customers. A wife or girlfriend may be different unless they’re desperate enough to please you.
I know it is not one of the best traits to have but you can’t deny that it is a real trait amongst some guys. As a single guy, Wallace has his right to sleep with who ever he wants unless it is illegal.
But on moral grounds, I think we should like it up to his girlfriend or wife to deal with him. As fans, we aren’t really in a position to condemn a celebrity for what he does in his private time.
Just because we want our idol to be such a way in real life doesn’t mean that he had to fulfil our expectations. If Wallace was a common guy who did the same sort of thing, most of us won’t even bat an eyelid.
I don’t hope this is true either but if it is, it is his own choice of lifestyle.
If I were a real fan, I may feel betrayed. It isn’t easy to draw the line or to forgive when you think you love or in love with that person. It’s like a certain image in your mind is being sullied by that single act and it’s difficult to erase.
I mentioned previously that we can be detached and neutral without getting our emotions involved when reading about a celebrity that we know if we’re not really a fan in the true sense. However, some really go to great lengths to scour news of their idols, following blogs, websites, weibo, forums, etc…
If I’m a parent and my child idolises certain celebrity, I would condemn that celebrity when news like this is proven true. Many impressionable youngsters look up to their idols as role models. Just like Miley Cyrus (or Rihanna) who seems to be selling sex instead of showing their talent. Many parents would condemn instead of trying to understand what goes through the mind of these young women which turned them into what they are now.
In terms of female celebrities selling sex instead of talent, that is not a private matter but a public matter as it is how they want to be perceived by the audience. That, I think as consumers/audience, have a right to comment on what goods we get.
I was referring to private matters as in stuff that a celebrity does behind closed doors without the intention of letting the whole world know about it. it is different of they announce it on weibo and glorify their acts, etc drug use. But if it is supposed to be a private matter, I think as fans, we have to draw the line be grown up to accept the idol as a real person with flaws or give up and like someone else. You may feel betrayed or hurt but at the end of the day, you have to pick yourself up and move on.

The “prostitute” involved in this incident has a Weibo account where she posts revealing photos of herself along with her phone number for business contacts. She does her own promotion online, so publicity for her would get possibly millions of online clicks.
It may not directly motivate more male customers to be interested in her because of Wallace, but it would attract more eyeballs on her page, which could result in future deals.

This is a modern prostitute who rely on publicity to garner more customers. She prolly is proud to announce the perks of her job to make it appealing to herself as she’s the one who needs to go on serving clients. Announcing to all that she’s sought by good-looking celebrity may elevate her status and translate into higher income.
Actually, it would be dumb to use an autographed picture as proof. Those pics can be faked with some photoshop skills or by someone who’s good at imitating signatures. Even if it’s a real autograph, it could’ve been obtained from meet-the-fans session or given by a celebrity when approached by their fans.
If she’s smart (and it really happened), she should’ve tried to capture a photo of him in her room. There’re plenty of spy camera/video app available.
Then she is a failed prostitute and her quest to be a high class prostitute is also a first class fail. Because discretion and silence is part of the job and she failed in all.

Do people really think that a man that can date beautiful women won’t go to prostitutes or have sex with cheap looking women? Please! A woman can be beautiful, classy and all round wonderful and that is still no guarantee that her man won’t cheat on her with some busted looking chick. Some irresponsible men justify their cheating by saying that men were not made for monogamy but to spread their seeds far and wide to as many women as possible. From the article, no evidence was provided that such transaction has indeed taken place and her working as a nightclub hostess does not automatically making her a hooker.

Those from the villages are so poor, the eldest daughter had to sacrifice herself by being a prostitute so that her siblings have food on their table. In such a scenario, pride is no longer important.
What’s sad is, the customers who frequent prostitutes are selfish enough to close their eyes to the reason why these young girls have to serve them. Some are so young and it breaks your heart that extreme poverty has led them to this road.

Yea, I have heard so many tragic stories like that but yet there are many that turn a blind eye to it and whine about how bad their life is when their life is heaven compared to many people like that. My parents went through a lot in their lives and have taught me to always think of others less fortunate instead of just live in my own little world like that.
@HTS, your parents must be happy you turn out so well. Despite how and what parents try to teach their children, not all would be able to really take it to heart.
We must really appreciate what we have no matter how unimportant we think it is. Something we take for granted is what another does without….

Well said but our parents teaching us is one thing, but it is also a part of our natural personality too. I guess that is where it is nature versus nurture. There are some that come from great families, yet end up being such bad people while there are some that live a harder life but turn out to be nice and decent people.
I am glad and lucky to have great parents that taught me so many things in life, but a part of it is through my experiences as well. Even when I am eating a simple meal, I think about how lucky I am to have that meal versus someone else out there who may be starving. We must learn to treasure things and not take it for granted.
Is the manager still WH manager? He didn’t deny that WH was with her and it was the production co. that eventually issued the denial. Doesn’t sound like a very protective manager.

Agree. The manager is fairly incompetent… if the story is not true. But OTOH, I speculate if they didn’t want to prematurely refute things that could be proven and that’s why they gave a “we need to know all the facts first” statement to buy time and to find out what was known/proven. Then they could issue a forceful statement that refuted (of course) everything that couldn’t be proven.
Yes. Lousy manager should be fired. Instead of denying, just answer a question with a question, get Wallace to decline answering (u know, the aggravated smile and ‘no comment’ thingy), lie low for a while and let the public speculate. When another bigger news/scandal/bombshell is dropped, this would be stale news. No need to tell lies to cover or denials if it isn’t. It would be easier to backpedal later.
If I am not mistaken his lousy manager is his personal school friend. Normally managers should not be the one issuing statements BUT should be the management company which in this case is the way it is.
Anyone who has ever followed Wallace’s news will know he never answers any questions about his personal live, especially rumours and gossips unless the allegations is very serious, like this one. He doesn’t do the smile and no comment thingy. He either answers or he don’t, which makes him less of a hypocrite in case there should be any discrepancies.

If we’re ever going to be a celebrity, this should be the way to handle things. (Unless some thinks bad publicity is better than no publicity at all).

I don’t know what the big deal is. Prostitution is so prominent in Asian cultures, it’s literally a fact of life, it’s commonplace for men to venture to. But when a major celebrity goes, it’s headline news. Give me a break! The dude is just like any other man that has the same biological needs. No sense in blowing this out of proportion. His social status doesn’t change who he is deep inside. Most of you are so shallow.
