Jackson Wang Prepares for Upcoming Debut Album

GOT7’s Hong Kong member Jackson Wang (王嘉爾) appeared on “Do Do” Carol Cheng’s (鄭裕玲) radio show When I Was Young I Listen To The Radio <口水多過浪花> to talk about his upcoming debut solo album, which will drop in October.

“I heard that you really like Cha Eun-woo,” Jackson told Do Do in the interview. Cha Eun-woo is a member of the K-pop boy band Astro, who rose in popularity after starring in the K-drama Gangnam Beauty. “So I told him that there is a jehjeh in Hong Kong who really likes him. But then I told him that you probably like me more!”

On his reasons for returning to Hong Kong, the sweet-talking Jackson said, “It’s so I can go on your show! I have to go on your show even if I lose my job.”

The 25-year-old, who made his debut in 2014 with GOT7, has a very practical approach to his career, describing his popularity as a “bubble” that can be popped at any moment. Admitting that he hasn’t had a vacation in three years, Jackson said it’s important to work as much and as hard as he can now that he’s still young. “A way to decrease stress is to solve problems as quickly as you can,” he shared. “When I’m tired, I think about how there are many others who are even more tired.”

Known for being a workaholic, Jackson said he doesn’t mind working too much, as he truly enjoys what he’s doing. “I’m doing what I love. It’s like how a lot of gamers can play video games every single day and not get bored of it.” But during the Q&A session, Jackson shared that he actually hates being a workaholic. “I don’t know how to stop. If there’s 24 hours in a day, I would continue working until there’s only 4 hours left, and even then I would try to fit in everything in 2 hours. That’s not healthy.”

Although he may love his job, Jackson does wish he could find more time to visit his family. Having to work every day has made Jackson realize how fast time can go by, and seeing his parents growing older and older makes Jackson want to spend more time with them. “I only have time to see my parents every few weeks,” he said. “I love it when my parents support me at events, but I don’t want them to go out on their own. That worries me.”

At the mention that his bandmate, Jinyoung, has recently starred in a drama, Jackson shared, “I wouldn’t be against acting. I do want to try doing an action film. I don’t mind being the person who gets beat up.” He then said he would like to do an action film with Do Do, who joked, “I rather be the one beating than the one getting beat up!”
