Crystal Fung’s New Rumored BF Is Not As Rich As Reports Are Saying

Last December, Crystal Fung (馮盈盈) confirmed her split with doctor boyfriend Martin Chung (鍾文浩), who she had for four years. Since the breakup, Hong Kong paparazzi had been on a frenzy run to get more insight on the MHK winner’s private life, and after months of following the actress, the paparazzi finally managed to turn in some homework.

Rumored to be dating 28-year-old Leonard Cheng (鄭衍峰), best known for hosting TVB’s Fun Abroad <32> series, paparazzi speculated that the two could be in a serious relationship, as Leonard was seen driving Crystal’s HK$600,000 car. The gossip mags then did some more digging, and reported that Leonard came from a wealthy family—his father was reportedly an aircraft engineer, and Leonard himself was raised in Vancouver, Canada.

However, only part of what was reported was true—Leonard is definitely from Canada, and graduated from the University of British Columbia. What wasn’t true was the claim that his parents were rich—according to new sources, Leonard grew up in a public housing complex in Richmond, British Columbia. His mother used to work as a sales associate at an electronics store, and his father is a mechanic for an airline.

Leonard was reached out for comment in regard to the reports on his family’s wealth. He replied, “I don’t want to talk about my family. I’m sorry!”

  1. i don’t understand why someone’s family background should matter in the dating world. if the person’s educated, capable of living a comfortable life and well off, why bother whether his family is rich/poor. many successful people i know grew up in gov complex, ended up going to ivy league becoming doctors and making good $$. many years ago, a guy i almost dated asked about my family background. He from hk and told me how well off his family was. why should it matter? i find people extremely shallow when they say stuff like that. if i were rich, i’d hide my wealth instead of telling my friends how rich i am so i’d get kidnapped.

    1. @m0m0 Unfortunately many traditional Chinese families your family “background” is still a big deal and a way to show off their wealth and their “superiority”. It’s so out of touch and gross but old ways die hard *shrugs*

    2. @m0m0 That’s how HK is. They always ask you where exactly do you live as well learn how rich you and your family are.

  2. So if a girl dating a rich guy they will called her a gold digger? What if a girl dated a normal guy not too rich but had saved enough for the marriage are they going to look down on her saying oh she do better than that. I mean it’s people choice as long they Happy that’s all matter. I think they make a cute couple.

  3. Lately have been hearing too many personal news of her. HK paparazzis has nothing else better to do, or no one else to target. To go to the extent of keep digging and prying into someone like Crystal Fung’s private life is kinda surprising.
