Park Bo Gum’s Charity Went Unnoticed For Years

Charity work and celebrities often go hand-in-hand, but for this Korean celebrity, no one knew about it until now.

Korean actor Park Bo Gum went on official hiatus last month to enlist in the South Korean military, which is compulsory for all South Korean male citizens. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Park’s agency did not reveal where the actor would be based at for his six-week basic military training, to avoid fan crowds. According to reports, Park will be serving in the navy military band.

Yesterday, Korean media leaked a photo of the Record of Youth actor wearing his combat uniform. Despite wearing a face mask like all of his fellow soldiers, Park’s soul-catching eyes are memorable.

This week, a news outlet revealed through research that Park had been quietly volunteering at an orphanage for the past seven years. Not only did Park donate to the orphanage, he also took charge of many housekeeping tasks within the facility. He was personally involved with caring and playing with the children. He remembered all their names and all of their faces.

It was said that Park wanted to hang out with the children one last time before his enlistment, but was unable to do so due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements. He ultimately decided to write a letter to them, sharing his current feelings and telling the children to always stay positive and never give up hope. Fans are calling Park a “literal angel.”

Park will be discharged from the military in April 2022.
