Denice Lam Does Not Regret Bold Revelations

Crowned Miss Hong Kong 2022, aspiring model Denice Lam (林鈺洧) received public criticism when her previous bold commentaries about her personal sex life on ViuTV programs Abracadabra <對號入座> and Dying for Prominence <鬼同妳上位> resurfaced.

Her revelation on the program about having five sexual partners, and other scintillating details in bed raised an outcry on the internet, as netizens labeled her a nymphomaniac. As the reigning face of Hong Kong beauty, netizens also hit out at the 27-year-old for tarnishing the pageant’s reputation.

Not Crying Over Spilt Milk

Beating runner-up Cecca Xu (許子萱), second runner-up Joey Leung (梁超怡) and other younger contestants to take home the title, Denice is the daughter of eighties TVB star Wilson Lam (林俊賢). Interested in the entertainment industry, she has debuted as a model as early as in 2015.

She responded when interviewed by the media regarding the controversy. “I was doing some variety programs at the time and treasured the chances. I didn’t think that dating was a big deal then, and only shared my own experiences like I would (with my) friends, the theme of the program was horoscopes,”

Calling it a “lesson”, Denice said that she has learnt to be more cautious when talking, but stopped short of regretting what she has done. “I feel that you can’t regret what’s been done, and can only treat it as having learned another thing, I really have no regrets, it is a show after all, a program, a job, it’s just a big lesson,”

As for being labeled a nymphomaniac, the 1.76m beauty, whose ambitions on the Miss Hong Kong website is stated as “becoming a person of influence who contributes to society” replied that it “doesn’t matter”, and that she will work hard to discharge her duties as Miss Hong Kong in the coming year to change netizens’ impressions of her, and believes that things will fade away with time.
