Keung To Reveals Arduous Educational Journey
Mirror’s Keung To (姜濤) celebrated his 27th birthday in April with fans. The birthday bash kicked off with dancers performing choreographed dance routines to many of his hit songs. When Keung To entered the event, he was instantly welcomed with excited screams from his fans. Although he seemed a bit shy at first, Keung To quickly warmed up and even handed out autographed peach plushies to the crowd.
In addition to performing some of his best songs on stage, Keung To also stepped off the stage to interact with fans. Feeling overwhelmed with emotion, Keung To candidly shared, “I want to say something at this moment tonight. Do you know what I was like before? The part of my life before I debuted. I’ve mentioned it in interviews before–I was very naughty and I wasn’t a well-behaved young person. During primary and secondary school, I was really a bad kid. Because of my personality, my body shape, and my studies, I wasn’t someone whom people liked.”
Keung To then dropped a shocking confession about his educational journey, “Do you know that I repeated a grade? What many people don’t know is that I actually repeated two years. At that time, I was too embarrassed to tell everyone. I only studied up to Form 1. I said in previous interviews that I reached Form 3. That was a lie. When I look and think back on it now, how hard can Form 1 be? But no matter how I studied, I just couldn’t do it.”
Continuing on, Keung To addressed feeling his lowest, “I had started breaking down. I would smash glass while working and even scold people. People said you shouldn’t get carried away, but I did. Honestly, when you become famous so quickly, how can you not get carried away?”
Ending on a heartfelt note, Keung To added, “No matter how hard it is, not giving up is actually very difficult. I hope you trust me because every choice I make is my own. I believe I can do it. I hope for your support. Thank you.”
Keung To closed the emotional night with Show Luo’s (羅志祥) You Won’t Be Alone (愛不單行). The singer’s authenticity inspired many fans.
