Keung To Appears at Hong Kong Airport After Fall Into Sea

Keung To (姜濤) appeared at Hong Kong International Airport to depart for Paris Fashion Week. This marks his first public appearance since accidentally falling into the sea last week. Over 500 fans were present holding banners and signs to show support.

Keung To arrived at around 10:20 p.m., accompanied by his manager and assistant. Keung To said, “The doctor checked me and everything’s fine. No need to worry. The doctor approved my discharge and I also felt okay, so I carried on as usual today.” He revealed he had some abrasions on his hands, but nothing serious. The company suggested he rest, but he felt compelled to appear in public due to widespread speculation about his fall. “If I didn’t come out, the rumors would keep spreading. I just want to let everyone know I’m fine. It was my own decision to come out and work.”

Keung To explained falling into the sea was purely an accident. While jogging and enjoying the nice weather, he decided to sit by the sea to watch the sunset. “Lately I haven’t been feeling great, so I wanted to exercise and sweat a bit. I set a bad example by crossing over the barrier. I’ve seen people sitting on the railing to fish and chill before, so I wanted to relax too. When I got up to leave, I felt a bit dizzy and accidentally fell in. It was a total accident and I was very surprised. This is my first and last time doing this. I hope everyone learns from this–railings are there for a reason.”

When asked about rumors of taking medicine or drinking alcohol, Keung To first stated he felt a bit dizzy and stated that he had taken painkillers for a headache and drank a little alcohol. When asked if he was drunk, he responded, “It wasn’t the main cause. I was just careless.” Reporters asked if he was drinking away his sorrows and he explained, “I rarely do that. I’ve always relied on playing sports to cope.”

Keung To added that he only realized the danger when he actually fell into the sea. Although he can swim, he panicked. He expressed his gratitude to the emergency personnel and bystanders who threw him a lifebuoy. He felt very apologetic his incident consumed public resources.

Regarding his cancelled fan meet, Keung To explained, “The company didn’t want us to go through too much. Since we were already here, we didn’t want to disappoint the fans and wanted to at least see them. On July 29, we’ll give everyone a proper fan meeting.”

When asked if he would take a long break afterward, Keung To replied he has already taken his vacation.
