After wrapping up her Hong Kong solo concert, Stars Academy <聲夢傳奇> alumna Chantel Yiu (姚焯菲) quickly returned to New York University (NYU) in the United States to begin her second year studying Music Business. She has been documenting her back-to-school routine on social media, giving fans a glimpse into her daily life in New York. Joking that she was simply too lazy, Chantel admitted that she sometimes takes a taxi to school, revealing a more carefree and down-to-earth side of herself.

Currently studying at NYU, Chantel recently shared a series of photos from the start of her new school year. In the pictures, she appears to have moved away from her usual “girl-next-door” image, instead wearing a dark grey, deep V-neck cropped top with sweatpants as she strolls casually through the streets of New York. Her look gives off a confident and effortlessly mature vibe.
She also posted candid shots of herself holding a drink, as well as photos of herself enjoying yogurt with friends, showing how she is settling into life as an international student in New York.

Beyond her outings in the city, Chantel was also surprisingly open about life inside her dorm, showing off a rather “messy” sofa piled high with stuffed toys and various belongings. She jokingly admitted that she takes a taxi to school simply because she is “lazy,” revealing a cute and down-to-earth side that fans may not often get to see. In an up-close selfie taken inside the car, Chantel appeared with only light makeup, while her skin still looked remarkably fresh.

Following the release of her back-to-school photos, fans and netizens flooded the comments with messages of support. Many praised Chantel for looking increasingly feminine and mature, while others noticed that she is about to celebrate her 20th birthday, sending her early birthday wishes.

Despite having been in the entertainment industry for four years, Chantel has continued to take her education seriously. She was even presented with an academic award by her university earlier this year.
Her career requires her to travel frequently between Hong Kong and the United States. After completing her Hong Kong concert, she immediately flew back to the US to begin the new school term.
Chantel has previously expressed an interest in subjects related to music business, and she remains committed to developing both her entertainment career and her academic pursuits at the same time.

Last year, Chantel Yiu became close friends with Ryan Lee (李立仁), the eldest son of veteran Hong Kong singer Hacken Lee (李克勤), shortly after the start of the school year.

According to reports, Chantel and Ryan met through a mutual tutor and exchanged contact details. Their interactions soon caught the attention of netizens, with some even describing the pair as a “golden couple” — a term often used to describe an attractive and seemingly well-matched young pair.
