Kenneth Ma and Elena Kong in a Lusty Relationship in “Triumph in the Skies 2”
After a ten-year wait, the sequel to Triumph in the Skies <衝上雲霄> is finally here. With the drama airing next Monday on July 15, Francis Ng (吳鎮宇), Chilam Cheung (張智霖), Myolie Wu (胡杏兒), Ron Ng (吳卓羲), Kenneth Ma (馬國明), Elena Kong (江美儀) and cast members attended a promotional event at Hong Kong International Airport today. Noticeably absent was Fala Chen (陳法拉), who missed he promotion due to other work commitments.
The various romantic pairings in Triumph in the Skies 2 will drive the plot in the sequel. Francis and Chilam will fight over Fala’s love, while Ron will be caught between Kelly Fu (傅嘉莉) and Myolie Wu, who portrays new character, aircraft technician Summer. A third conspicuous love triangle will be between Kenneth Ma, Elena Kong, and Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗).
Kenneth and Elena Share Numerous Bed Scenes
Elena and Kenneth have a sexy, but loveless relationship in Triumph in the Skies 2. There will be a kissing scene in which they kiss from the patio to the bed, in addition to their other bed scenes in the drama.
Elena and Kenneth’s romantic pairing was dubbed as a “mother and son” relationship after their performance in Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles <名媛望族>. Elena was called an “auntie” by netizens, but Kenneth defended her, “She is only older than me by three to four years; she entered the industry early. [Our love] scenes are not too graphic, but the meaning is bold.”
Asked if Kenneth had a relationship based purely on sex in the past, he said, “When I was younger, I desired such a purely sexual relationship. I believe that many men will not mind, especially if the woman is attractive. But I have never tried it and don’t have the courage to do such absurd things now.”
Ron Ng Denies Dating Kelly Fu
Since filming Triumph in the Skies 2 last year, Ron has been linked with sexy model Kelly Fu. Earlier, Kelly implied that she and Ron were more than friends, hinting that they were in the early stages of a relationship.
However, Ron and Kelly acted as strangers at today’s press event and did not interact with each other. Prompted about the rumored relationship, Ron finally said, “I have clarified it many times. She is not my girlfriend. We are not dating. The truth is that we didn’t [date]; there’s no need to talk about the rumors.”
Kelly added that her statements may have been misunderstood by the press earlier, clarifying that she and Ron are only friends.
Francis and Chilam Not Anxious About Ratings
TVB hopes that airing Triumph in the Skies 2 in July will boost sluggish ratings in recent months. Chilam was not too concerned about the ratings, and said he was already happy to have participated in the grand production.
Francis commented on the ratings concern, “It’s inappropriate for me to say. I’ll face it normally; I believe that whether the ratings are good or poor, people will talk about it.” He added, “But I hope there are more celebratory events, so I can see my brothers and sisters. Don’t worry; the ratings should be passable.”

Kenneth and Elena’s relationship in the series is more publicized than his relationship with Rebecca. I suspect that Kenneth and Elena’s relationship starts off sexual based on the premise that both are flying so frequently and do not have time to commit to a relationship, so they agree to become sex partners. However, judging by stills from the drama, I think they will become a true couple later on.
If I’ve understood it correctly, Elena’s character is actually married in the show. So I’m a bit surprised her character is the type to risk her marriage for sex with a “young hot piece”. I figured it would be based on love. However, I do think Elena’s character is ranked higher than Rebecca so she will probably end up with Kenneth’s character.

Thanks for the tidbit on Elena, which I was unaware of. I also think that Elena’s role is meatier than Rebecca’s, which may hint that she and Kenneth will be the OTP.

Kenneth always seem so uneasy in intimate scenes especially in Mysteries Of Love, he made it so awkward for himself and for us to watch.
I’m interested to see how the sequel progress from the first installment, 43 episodes is quite long and the longer the series is the romance will eventually get draggy. I hope they focus on other factors rather than just romance.

I agree and hope that they don’t spend too much time on romance because that can get so boring, draggy and redundant…43 eps is too long to spend on just romance…

I actually hope they are going to focus on the airline profession too and not just full dive into the relationship stories…so far all the promotions released are so heavily based on love triangles and disputes etc. I’m actually quite interested in the airline profession, although my studies/career have nothing to do with it (but i’ve thought of it in the past)…hope this series doesn’t disappoint.

I work as a cabin crew but I am not crazy about series focussing on the airline industry. This is because no matter how ‘real’ they try to portray the lifestyles of all those involved, somehow they are not doing the crew enough justice. Crew basically render much more than just cabin and ground service. We are basically trained safety personnels and emergency situations are not uncommon. Then there are common incidences of air rage, shortages of meals catered, unpleasant toilet situations, passengers fighting, drunken passengers, demanding cockpit crew, ‘zappy’ senior crew, and the list goes on and on. Life is not all glamourous . True.. Affairs and lusty relationships are aplenty, money is good, shopping in Fifth Avenue, Champ Elysees etc., wining and dining in the best hotels, in and out of beautiful countries..
Downsides.. We don’t really have the energy and time to visit all the nice places. After a long flight, all we can think of is checking in to the hotel and ‘hibernate’. Some female crew who have been working for many years have problems conceiving and it is very common to hear of crew having slip discs, back pains, and severe gastric problems.
I have lost count how many times I have been rostered to fly during holiday seasons like CNY and Christmas.. To a foreign land when everyone else back home celebrated.
So I guess, after so many years of being in the air, it’s finally time to clip my wings and be grounded.

Many viewers will understand that “Triumph in the Skies 2” simplifies the airline job functions. It glamorizes the international travel and the romance, where many staff members are coincidentally single, attractive, and looking for love. Since the series is sponsored by Hong Kong Airlines, it’s expected that it will present the industry in a positive light, along with glossing over the industry’s professions. Viewers will understand this and hopefully spark a greater appreciation for you and your colleagues’ work although the series may not provide a comprehensive view.

I appreciate you share your work experience. I am truly aware series are all fiction in a positive way and real life is much more difficult.
A lot of series are fictional and/or only show the good side of things and ignore the reality in many cases. I guess that is one of the reasons why people love to watch series so that they can escape the pains and pressures of life once in awhile. I had a cousin that was a flight attendant and she said it was not all glamour and fun as people thought. Thanks for sharing !eN@!!
Is Kenneth’s “Roy” suppose to be a playboy (similar to his character Gordon in Mysteries of Love) in this series? Seen pictures of him with a couple other girls

If Kenneth’s character is being as a player than it would be a huge contrast since the first installment. I like the first one but absolutely hate the idea of killing Myolie’s Zoe character. There are so many angle they can do with the marriage, and continue with that relationship. They could have Fala in but maybe as a love interest for Ron? Not sure I will watch it, since it will ruin the first one.

tbh, Kenneth is a nice and cute guy but he never oozes charisma or has this charm that makes him fun to watch. I also agree that his kissing scenes are awkward to watch, idk he seems too shy and it shows even through his acting. He’s tall and got a handsome face but he just needs more confidence and charm
Agree. Kenneth is just rather awkward. The only time I found him sexy was when he paired up with JJ. IDK, even though his Gordon character in MOL was supposed to be a player he never displayed the confidence a player has. But he did in Tiger Cups so maybe his acting has evolved, or he just gave it all because for once he wasn’t concerned about maintaining his “good boy” image.

TVB has been a big joke lately, heck, for the last 5 or so years since the ending of Moonlight Resonance. Their demise is getting closer and closer. Within a span of the next 10 years, they will no longer be on top in Southeast Asia. “Triumph in the Skies 2″ will determine the nail on the coffin for them. Agree or disagree, you know it’s true.
