Louis Koo Extends Contract with Pegasus Motion Pictures

Hong Kong Next Magazine revealed that Louis Koo (古天樂) has decided to extend his current film contract with Raymond Wong’s (黃百鳴) Pegasus Motion Pictures to another two years in order to “pay his debt.”

In 2009, Louis signed a ten-picture contract with Pegasus Motion Pictures and was in line to shoot ten films produced by the company for the next six years. Louis was paid $48 million HKD upfront for the deal. However, as of 2013, Louis has only participated in three of the company’s All’s Well, Ends Well film series. Louis was the original star of Raymond Wong’s Saving General Yang <忠烈楊家將>, but the 42-year-old had to withdraw from the film after injuring his knee. His role was replaced by Ekin Cheng (鄭伊健).

It was said that Raymond had vocally expressed his displeasure with Louis for breaching the contract, and according to Next Magazine, Raymond had sent Louis a legal warning. However, Raymond said he is still in good relations with Louis despite their controversy. Raymond allegedly said, “Louis and I actually do not fuss about these matters, but Pegasus is a listed company, and I have to take the shareholders into account.”

As a result of Raymond’s legal warning, Louis took the initiative to request for a contract extension to two more years in order to shoot the remaining seven films as soon as possible.

      1. Lol Simon has long been known for quantity of quality haha. Sometimes he gets lucky though and gets some good movies, but I would say the majority of his stuff is forgettable.
Not saying he is a bad actor at all, just his choice in movie scripts.

  1. I thought his $$ for picture is at 5 mill long time ago.

He did signed a contract at a discount because its paid upfront???

  2. Louis still got a serie to film under TVB I last heard as well however with no expiration date.

  3. Surely they have insurance to cover breach of contract due to genuine injuries and inability to film?
That’s generous of him to extend his contract, especially if he has to film those god awful “All’s Well..” movies which got old after the 2nd or 3rd one.

Asking him to star in those is insulting to his acting ability. He’s on of HK’s best actors even if he has been robbed of the award numerous times.
I hope he can fulfill his contract fast and get signed up with someone decent who will give him great roles.
He is in the prime of his acting career and it’s a shame he has to waste some of it filming some crap mass produced new year’s comedy instead of films that will help him grow and improve as an actor.
