Aaron Kwok’s Close Relationship with His Mother

As one of the most successful superstars Hong Kong, Aaron Kwok (郭富城) is a filial son and attributes his achievements to mother, who made many sacrifices for the family. During his most recent concert in January, Aaron exclaimed, “Without my mother, there is no me.” Mother and son have enjoyed a close relationship through the years, and Aaron is taking his mother’s passing extremely hard and continues to grieve over the loss of his biggest supporter. After a month of planning, the funeral was held on March 4, 2020.

With two older brothers and two older sisters, Aaron was the baby of the family and was doted on by his mother. The family was dependent on their father’s single income as a jewelry store manager. His second eldest brother eventually took over their father’s position as manager. Unfortunately, his brother was shot to death during a robbery in 1990, which also happens to be the year when Aaron made a breakthrough in his singing career with his single, “I Love You Forever” <對你愛不完>. In 1994, Aaron’s father passed away, and he became the breadwinner for the family.

Aaron reportedly gave his mother $300,000 HKD monthly for living expenses. For the convenience of taking care of and spending time with her, he settled his mother into a home that is extremely close to where he lives. No matter how busy work or life got, Aaron always made sure to spend time with his mother. Regardless of what was going on, he kept the tradition of spending Lunar New Year with her. Aaron once shared, “I am a very traditional person. I feel the need to eat New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day dinner with my mother. I also watch fireworks with her at home. This is a traditiona even during every year.”

A bachelor still in his 50s, Aaron finally tied the knot with model, Moka Fang (方媛), in 2017. Fulfilling his mother’s desire for grandchildren, Aaron and Moka have two daughters, Chantelle and Charlotte. Aaron shared in an earlier interview, “The happiness that showed on my mother’s face when she holds her granddaughters… it was a kind of happiness that I have not seen in more than ten years.”
