Bowie Lam and Monica Chan Reunite as Siblings in “D.I.D. 12”

D.I.D. 12 <刑偵12>, starring Bowie Lam (林保怡), Monica Chan (陳法蓉), and Owen Cheung (張振朗), aired on May 22 with two gripping murder cases involving Momo Wu (吳沚默) and Oman Lam (林浩文), who were bizarrely murdered over a monopoly-related conflict.
Crime Investigation Drama Opens to Positive Reception
Besides Derek Kwok‘s (張松枝) character who previously killed the wealthy third-generation heir Fu Yiming, the murders also involved the equally ruthless Bai Zhonghao (played by Bond Chan 陳少邦) and Xia Ke (played by Lucas Yiu (姚宏遠).
Monica Chan made her first appearance last night as Ding Shao Wan, the older sister of Bowie Lam’s character Ding Lok Fung. Also a police officer like Bowie, the siblings share a close bond despite living in different places. While watching a movie together, Shao Wan unexpectedly introduces a mysterious man, Hao Jiong (played by Gary Chan 陳嘉輝), to Lok Fung. Lok Fung immediately becomes distant and alert. It seems Hao Jiong, Zhonghao, and Xia Ke all know Lok Fung — and there appears to be a hidden tension or unresolved issue among the four men.

In her debut scene, Monica Chan shares a piano duet with Bowie Lam, the two thespians appear to play skillfully onscreen. In reality, Bowie Lam has no prior experience with piano, whereas Monica Chan has some musical background, and once performed her own rendition of the song “Accumulated Feelings” <堆積情感>. To ensure a convincing performance, the production team revealed that the actors practiced together before filming, and Bowie, who returns for the drama after a long absence, even placed a piano in his home for extra practice.
