Elaine Ng is “Totally Disappointed” in Daughter Etta Ng
Elaine Ng (吳綺莉) and her daughter Etta Ng (吳卓林) are now more estranged than ever.
In late March, Elaine notified the police after she lost contact with her daughter, afraid that she might have locked herself in her apartment in Yau Ma Tei. Firefighters crashed into her flat, which alerted the neighbors, and found that Etta was not in danger. Upset with her mother for causing “a big deal,” Etta publicly called out her mother for being “crazy” and that she needed to see a doctor.
Those words had hurt Elaine deeply, but she eventually forgave her daughter, and even publicly defended her from hate comments. She told disparagers that Etta is now an adult and has the right to make her own decisions.
But the mother and daughter peace didn’t last long.
On May 3, Elaine updated her social media accounts with a message to her daughter. She said, “One day when you understand how bullshit [everything] is, take it, my dearest Etta.”
She later replied to a fan comment, saying, “I’ll tell you one fact. I’ve never given birth to this child. This daughter is not mine.” She continued, “Don’t care about anything if you’re living, [just] don’t do bad things. Do it for happiness.”
Netizens offered their support to Elaine, reassuring the struggling mother that one day, Etta will understand her faults and return to her.
It is currently not known what had made Elaine so furious with Etta after their supposed reconciliation, but Elaine did share that she recently brought her late mother’s spirit tablet back to Hong Kong from Shanghai. Although Elaine was born and grew up in Hong Kong, she is of Teoswa descent and her mother had business in Shanghai. When Elaine was pregnant with Etta, she moved in with her mother in Shanghai. Reportedly, Elaine’s mother was not very happy with the pregnancy.
Etta is the illegitimate child of Jackie Chan (成龍), and despite her birth being an open secret, Elaine had insisted to take care of Etta on her own.
