Grace Chan Disproves Plastic Surgery Allegations

Miss Hong Kong winner, Grace Chan (陳凱琳), is once again a victim of plastic surgery gossip. Recent rumors claimed that the 22-year-old Hong Kong native underwent plastic surgery while she studied in Canada during her college years. To disprove the plastic surgery claims once again, Grace shared her childhood pictures online, showing that her looks were blessed by nature, and allowed the press to take close-up photos of her face at recent events.

Grace Chan baby brother

Praised as one of Hong Kong’s most beautiful pageant winners in recent years, Grace’s elegant looks are compared to 1988 Miss Hong Kong winner Michelle Reis (李嘉欣), who is half Portuguese and half Chinese. With her sharper facial features, Grace is also speculated to be of mixed heritage, although both her parents, and her older sister, look fully Chinese. Grace recently shared a photo of her younger twin brother, who is said to look more Middle Eastern than Chinese.  There was gossip that Grace and her brother were adopted.

“Maybe there is mixed blood from my maternal grandmother’s side, with traits that skipped a generation. It has never come into question about whether I am my mother’s biological daughter or not,” said Grace.

Grace chan brotherThe plastic surgery rumors and mixed heritage gossip have not bothered Grace, who is currently preoccupied with the preparations for her upcoming drama, Trade Wars <商戰>. The modern business thriller, which stars Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), Raymond Wong (黃浩然), Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), and Power Chan (陳國邦), will be Grace’s debut drama. Grace expressed that she is happy to be given the opportunity to perform as an actress so soon and said does not feel too much pressure about it.

  1. Very definitely mixed heritage there somewhere. And yes, it can skip a generation.. it’s there somewhere 🙂

    1. I heard that even generations later, you can still have the features of your mixed ancestors. I was reading an article on American celebs and they claimed some of the celebs were distantly related to the distant presidents. But they are really really distant like even 14th cousins in some cases. However, they seemed to leave some traits similar to their ancestors. Genes work really strangely.

      1. DNA is a very complicated and strange scientific thing…

  2. She knows what she’s done (or haven’t done) to her face and body. No need to prove anything. She is beautiful though. Neither of them look Chinese. His brother looks Middle Eastern.

  3. Personally don’t find her very pretty. But the media plays her up to be SO Beautiful….

She also looks middle easternish Asian mix to me

    1. Agreed!
There are a lot of middle eastern gals that’s much prettier than her.
And she is wayyy too thin!

      1. too short and flat…!!! dunno where is the beauty…! gosh!!!

    2. Agreed! I don’t find her pretty. If I walked past her on the street, I wouldn’t give her a second glance.

      1. right on! I can’t believe people compare her to Michelle Reis. Michelle is 100x better!
She and her brother are twins? No way you can tell they are from the same family!

  4. she looks like she has some Indian features lol. but imo, she’s not pretty.

    1. Agreed, she definitely looks part Indian, especially her childhood picture (where her skin is darker). If she knows and does not admit, that’s not good.

    1. Karena wld kill to look like her, puhleezeeee. Grace may not be beautiful to some people but she carries herself well and exudes an air of classiness.

  5. Nothing against Grace Chen but I do not find her as beautiful as the media is hyping her up to be. She is pretty but not Michelle Reis gorgeous.

    1. Very true. She is pretty but Michele Reis in one in a million.

      1. I think Michele Reis is overrated too. I wonder why everyone thinks she is so beautiful?? At least we know for sure Michele is mixed as we can see it directly in her name.

      2. I don’t think Michelle Reis is overrated. She has that exotic beauty (mainly bc she’s mixed). If you watched her in The Legendary Ranger, you’ll be mesmerized by her. Haha Those were the days where she was natural. She hasn’t aged very well though.

      3. overrated as well. shes not pretty as a mixed.

      4. I didn’t think Michelle Reis was all that beautiful when she won Miss HK. She’s pretty, sure, but so are many mixed girls, like those models in HK – Ana R, Mandy, etc.

What Michelle lacked was personality, imo. She was quite bland and it’s no wonder that her acting career never really took off.

      5. That I agree ………….Michelle Reis is lack of personality …………

Also agree that mixed girls usually look prettier with beautiful eyes.

      6. I don’t like the way Michelle Reis talks in her interviews or drama series.

      7. ” If you watched her in The Legendary Ranger, you’ll be mesmerized by her. “

I find Catherine Hung more beautiful in that series.

      8. Same here, I find Hung Yan and even Chu Yan prettier or at least more interesting to watch than Lee Kar Yan.

    2. It is because Hong Kong media likes to hype up mix girls. Any one who looks mix or is mix is labelled beautiful

      1. Yup, the ‘juk sing mui’ look is very desired in Hong Kong apparently. Mixed breed models are very popular over there, and so are Miss HKs/MCI who speak in heavily accented cantonese (those who come from Canada usually, not mainland accents – HKers look down on those), because they are perceived as ‘charming’ and ‘exotic’. In the 90s, Flora Chan became popular partly because of her western outlook.

      2. Do you live in HK or Canada, Felicity? if not, how can you say what the hk audience prefer to see or assume that everyone from Canada has a heavily accented Cantonese?

      3. Er, read my comment carefully. I never said that everyone from Canada has heavily accented Cantonese. What I said – in agreeing with the previous poster – was many of those MCI who come from Canada speak with an accent, like Bernice and Christine, going back to Teresa Lee Yee Yung during the 90s. They are very gwai mui aka westernized, yet HKers are quite accepting of them in tv dramas.

      4. Typo – her name is Teresa Lee Yee Hung. Not Lee Yee Yung.

      5. I find that an insult.
Maybe you should watch SLOW BOAT HOME AND SEE HOW WESTERNERS FEEL ABOUT BEING CALLED GWAI MUI.

      6. or better yet, who doesnt have a heavily accented cantonese?

AND DO YOU REPRESENT THE HK AUDIENCE? NO.

      7. Oh, the Politically Correct Police are out for me too. Be insulted for all I care. I am not the one who coined the term Gwai Mui, Chan Jai, Dai Luk Mui. Just telling it like it is – watch how the western characters and mainlanders are treated by HK people in tv dramas and movies. Movies and tv series reflect a society’s attitude. Don’t like the term gwai mui, send a memo out to all HKers to ban the word, why don’t you? Lol

      8. ot coined, by u is ok know that its still a term that isnt well accept by westerners. just how Jap is a racist term.

  6. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to some she is not…so let’s move on!

    1. shes prettier than fala and hopefully she can act better than fala lol

  7. She is beautiful but does not look chinese . She look more like indian with a lighter skin.

  8. “Miss Hong Kong winner Grace Chan’s beauty is so surreal”

I mean she is pretty but surreal is very high imagination.

    1. Lol I know right! Surreal was the word that got me clicking on this article.. Well, not a bad read..

  9. ecent rumors claimed that the 22-year-old Hong Kong native underwent plastic surgery while she studied in Canada during her college years

A plastic surgery costs over $10,000 in Canada.

  10. grace chan really is comparable to michelle reis beauty and indeed currently most beautiful pagent winners after sonija kwok era.. no wonder she is MCI winner as well? that prove she is indeed rare germ beauty… i believe many rich guys will want to date her…

  11. She’s the next “Miss-In-Your-Face” thanks to TVB excessive promotion.

  12. The secret of her being adopted will come out. Ppl will be dumb to think they are actually blood related kids.

    1. you do know that genetics is very complex.

Just because she has addressed the fact that her parents are Chinese does not mean that somewhere in her family line that there weren’t any interracial marriages.

These traits can lay dormant for generations.

My teacher is Cantonese but she looks full Eurasian. She is definitely not mixed. However, she has tracked down her family line and her great great great great grandmother was part French.

I don’t know where this rumor began but Hk public is pretty stupid to not even consider such possibilities……..

      1. If you have mixed blood anywhere and at anytime in your famiky line, even if it is generations later, you can still see it. Of course, it varies depending on the person so one child can have it more than the other as with Grace and her twin brother versus her older sister.

      2. They do look mixed with Indian ancestry hence her featuresbut with chinese or fairer skin hence her skin tone. She is fairer than her brother. Like some said she could be adopted but like UNI said, genetics is very complex. Her parents may have indian ancestry somewhere down the line and just so happens skipped a few generation. I am saying Indian as generally, it could be any exotic race with dark skin but sharp features. The best judge is not skin colour but features. Perhaps feature wise she and her brother looks like her parents? Her looks is more natural but her brother’s look is a tad odd. But it seems TVB is selling her as the most beautiful HK pageant winner, ever?

      3. @Funn

Probably bc she won both MHK and MCI; hence, TVB is pushing her up. Very few did the same.

    2. yuup, happened in my family LOLOL

maybe Bo should take some biology courses..

  13. Those are 2 Indian – looking people, they have to have some mixed blood in them somewhere down the line.

  14. Colonies of Arabs, Jews, central Asians, Persians settled in ancient China. so it’s not unusual for intermarriages to have occurred throughout the centuries.

  15. Personally I don’t think Grace Chan is pretty. She is too thin and her face is too narrow and chin too pointed. But everyone’s taste and expectation are different. And she definitely looks more Indian than Chinese.

  16. i think grace is pretty, but not chinese style. she looks like the ex-lover of francis Ng,i forgot her name but she is definitely pretty, ppl with such face are mostly dominant and have a strong wil power.i imagine a taylor made role for her as cixi empress of Qing dynasty, lol.

  17. pretty but too skinny dont know about her acting and she dont look like a drama queen well on the other hand still to early to tell

  18. It never crossed my mind that Grace doesn’t look Chinese before this article. Maybe there’s some mixed blood somewhere but I think she looks Chinese. Her brother really doesn’t look Chinese though. At least not in that picture.

    1. Me too. I never wondered that she was not Chinese nor that there was some mixed blood in her ancestry.

There were claims that Whitney Hui looks mixed, but she confirmed that she fully Chinese too. Perhaps there may be some mixed blood in the ancestry that she doesn’t know either?

    2. I just didn’t want to assume there was one “Chinese face”.

  19. She does look a bit Indian from that childhood pic. I don’t really believe that she had plastic surgery. Her features look pretty much the same and she has a sharp jawline and big eyes since a young age. Everyone had those awkward childhood pics of them and aside from the somewhat crooked teeth in her child pic, she resembles herself very well. She sure knows how to carry herself with wide confident smile in her pics though. Also, she doesn’t look Indian in her adult pics and does resemble Michele Reis a lot more as she grew up. She has a pretty face, is photogenic, and her smile is approachable, no doubt, but prolly won’t use the word beautiful to describe her (yet).

What is her grandmother mixed with?

  20. Michelle Reis was pretty when she was crowned Miss Hong Kong, but not any more. I saw her recently on TV, and she did not look pretty to me. She was to thin and her face was all bony and narrow. She looked prettier when she was young.

  21. Why the need to refute plastic surgery claims? There will always be these accusations regardless of the truth.

    1. Yeah Michelle Reis looks very pretty when she was crowned for miss hong kong in 1988 she looks so
Pretty and young but now in 2014 she looks quite old now

  22. I wish she put on some weight…she has nice features, she just need some meat to compliment it!

  23. Grace looks very elegant and refined. If she had more physical presence…like an aura or say more meat on her, I think she’d make it to “exceptional beauty” caliber. But as of right now…she looks like she could be one of my prettier undergraduate students. Noteworthy, but not surreal. I think noteworthy is still more than most can claim.

  24. so instead of checking the IPs and asking some commenters to apologize if found not gulity, you close the comments for articles relating MH370, knowing that posting the articles are controversial.

thats how everyone knows how jayne favours funn.

  25. I never knew that grace chan would do her
Plastic surgery in that picture of when she was little
Her skin colour looks so different to now like how
    She looks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

  26. she already looks pretty when she was little. i dont see any differences…

  27. she already looks beautiful when she was little. i dont see any differences.

shes very elegant and refined. all 3 MCIs/MHKs winners (starting from Reis to kwok to Chan).. they were all MIXED.

    1. I never thought of it ………… All 3 MCIs/MHKs winners (starting from Reis to kwok to Chan).. they were all MIXED. I guess it is true. Mixed looks prettier …. it shows very well in their eyes.
