Hera Chan is Not Nervous About Kissing James Ng

On September 25, Hera Chan (陳曉華) and James Ng (吳業坤) attended the blessing ceremony for their upcoming drama Paranormal Shop <異搜店> (tentative title), in which they play an on-screen couple. This refreshing pairing is drawing anticipation, as many are looking forward to seeing the two’s chemistry and on-screen kiss. However, James disclosed they did not shoot the kissing scene yet, even though production commenced two months ago.

Feeling deceived, James said, “From costume fitting to now, we have been talking about this for two months, and it hasn’t happened yet. It makes me wonder whether they are just pacifying me, but we won’t know what until the end. Everyone knows that I practiced kissing with my cat for the kissing scene. I also practiced with myself by making my top lip kiss my bottom lip – I’ve put a lot of effort into it!”

The singer-actor continued and shared that he has learned a lot about improvising while acting out his scenes with Hera. When asked if he learned to ad-lib kiss scenes from Tony Hung (洪永城), who received backlash for touching and kissing Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗) on the whim when they worked together, James immediately feigned confusion. Stuttering, he said, “I don’t know; I’m not so sure. However, for very sweet parts in the script, I would add extra details like holding hands or putting my arm around her shoulders to bring out the feeling of two people in a relationship.”

Reporters then asked James if he is worried about becoming too invested in the role and suddenly planting a kiss on Hera since he has been looking forward to working with her. He responded, “I am not that bold. In the end, this isn’t a love drama so I wouldn’t be too focused on it.”

Hera expressed that she is not afraid of James adding impromptu intimate scenes either. Smiling, she said, “We usually communicate ahead of filming, but I will speak up if I will feel that it’s not working out even after trying. But right now, everything is ok. So far, the script has it that James will be kissing me on the cheek, but I don’t know what will happen on set. If we kiss [on the lips], then I guess my first on-screen kiss will go to him.”

When asked if she wanted to pick a different person, she said, “Of course not, this is up to fate.”

    1. @tt23 lol yes, totally. Especially his comments about practicing kissing. I never understood this guy’s appeal. Supposedly he is pretty popular with the ladies but all I see is a nerdy computer guy that likes to play video games but has no real “game” in terms of his luck with the ladies. He was super weird too when he was on the Miss HK 1-on-1 dinner date segment with the current winner, Lisa Tse. He kept on telling her, “do you know how beautiful you are? You really are so beautiful. So beautiful.” Over and over again at different times during their meal. He was so struck by her beauty, it was really awkward.

  1. He sounds sick when he says I practice kissing scene with my cat. I mean really? He could have used Barbie or a doll. For some reason I always thought he either looks like Ron Ng or C Kwan?

    1. @cutie777 lol I can maybe see it? Like if they had a baby that would be james.

But also don’t want to say that because at least Ron and ckwan are normal and not creepy

  2. I don’t get these obsessions with kissing scene, it’s like such a big deal lol

I remember Kenneth Ma used to talk a lot about it too, almost veering to the creepy territory, but at least he made it sounded funny. This guy, on the other hand, is just totally creepy.
