Hong Kong’s Version of “Ossan’s Love” Starts Filming
Kenny Wong (黃德斌) will be fighting MIRROR’s Anson Lo (盧瀚霆) for the love of Edan Lui (呂爵安) in the Hong Kong adaptation of the popular Japanese boys’ love drama Ossan’s Love <大叔的愛>, which aired for two seasons in 2018 and 2019.
The romantic comedy follows Edan Lui as an everyday office worker who becomes the center of affections for two men—his boss played by Kenny Wong, and his roommate played by Anson Lo.
This weekend, the trio were spotted in Star Ferry Central Pier to film a pivotal scene for the series. Kenny is at the pier to drop off both Anson and Edan. Kenny heads to the back of his car to take Edan’s luggage. He looks at Edan longingly, unwilling to let him go. After he leaves, Anson sneaks in a kiss on Edan’s lips.
There was no awkwardness between Anson and Edan before and after the scene, but apparently Anson was very nervous about the kiss a day prior, and even shared on social media that he felt “complicated”
Ossan’s Love was first released in 2016 in the form of a short television special which aired on TV Asahi. It became a hit, leading to TV Asahi to renew it as a dramatized series. The first season was released in 2018, starring Kei Tanaka as Soichi Haruta, Kotaro Yoshida as Musashi Kurosawa, and Kento Hayashi as Ryota Maki. The drama series, which lasted two seasons, was a big hit in Japan. Hong Kong’s Viu TV purchased rights to adapt the series last year.
