Jessica Hsuan Says TVB Dramas are Corny

*Spoilers Alert*

Jessica Hsuan (宣萱), Oscar Leung (梁烈唯), Vincent Wong (王浩信), and Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤) attended a promotional event yesterday for the TVB action drama, Tiger Cubs <飛虎>. Despite airing only once a week, an unconventional time slot for typical TVB dramas, Tiger Cubs achieved successful ratings.

Regarding the leaked spoilers of her character’s death in the finale, Jessica said, “Talking about it already? It’s not going to be good to watch if you already know what happens, but even if I do die, I’m probably going to have a twin sister that comes in afterwards. It’s that corny!”

Netizens noticed that Jessica often gets kidnapped in her dramas. Jessica laughed, “I think a lot of TVB dramas are like that. Cop dramas always use this same storyline. The story needs to be intense, yet it also needs to be appropriate for broadcast. There are many limitations, so these type of scenes are the safest to play. I’m sure there are many other artists that always get kidnapped too.”

When asked if TVB purposely left Tiger Cubs to broadcast at non-prime time hours because she and Joe Ma (馬德鐘) have already left the company, Jessica denied the claims. “When we first started filming, they already told us that it would air in a new time slot, in a format similar to that of American television series. Both the audience and I are having a hard time chasing the show. There’s only one new episode every week! Even I have to look at my watch every Sunday night, waiting for 10PM to come!”

Jessica added that Tiger Cubs is her last drama with TVB and feels relieved that her last drama is getting high ratings. As for rumors of Tiger Cubs getting a sequel or film version, Jessica expressed that she rarely does films, but welcomes discussing plans for a sequel with TVB.

Yesterday was also Vincent Wong’s birthday. His wife, Yoyo Chen, gave him a birthday kiss and announced that she will give her husband a surprise that night. When asked if they plan for another baby, Vincent joked, “We’ll work hard tonight!”

  1. Jayne – you should mark this as a spoiler article since Jessica reveals her outcome in the series.

    Thanks.

    1. Pandamao,
There is a “Spoilers” warning before the first paragraph of the article. 🙂

      1. Missed.

This series is already heavily spoiled because of Jessica. She has such a big mouth. Pretty annoying!!!

      2. Pandamao,
TVB always have the option to edit out Jessica’s ending and leave it open for sequel.

  2. Well, its well known for TVB that they always reuse ideas from those old series..nothing new. I was informed that TITS also did the something like killing off Zoe’s character and make Myolie a new character to date with Ron..so funny n pathetic.

  3. I gotta hand it to Jess for calling a spade a spade. She is outspoken in a right way.

  4. Yeah the long lost twin sister appears 😀
No creativity whatsoever at least make her look-alike a clone or a plastic doll :@

Love Jess outspokenness here TVB = the corny master, hehe.

  5. TVB is TVB, we cannot require too much, anywat I am delighted with the result of this series.

  6. Truth for the matter, i think TVB dramas is good, good to kill time. I only watch them to kill time. And, they focus on trival matters and its kinda draggy especially family feuds.

  7. Haha, kidnapping and twin sister? Jessica always speaks her mind.

  8. Corny is a kinder word, as a viewer myself, I say cheesy.

  9. Corny, cheesy whatever word to describe, but the people loves series with such themes. If they are popular they will draw audience and money

  10. hahhh well dne for jessica… she has the right to say whatever she wants to..

  11. Yup, she definitely has the right to say whatever she wants and I respect her for that. I wonder if she’ll get in trouble with TVB but then again, she’s a big name already. I think TVB needs her more than she needs TVB so they’ll just have to put up with it.

  12. Almost people think because Jessica is no longer at TVB so that she could say anything she wants. I think it’s not right, Jessica is always Jessica and despite of TVB or not, she always says anything she feels right.

  13. After watching her performance in CotRH I’d say she would certainly be an expert on what “corny” is. 😛

    1. Neither Jessica nor Myolie did well in COTRH. Nancy, Myolie’s mum and surprisingly Joel Chan stole the series ROFL

  14. well its obvious that the spoiler is announced; as why would she care anymore.

  15. I have any of Jessica movies. She acts really good on all her roles.
